GAM3S.GG has returned from the bustling scene of Gamescom 2023, an annual gaming event that draws enthusiasts and industry players from around the world. This year's edition of the event saw a remarkable turnout, with over 320,000 attendees representing more than 100 countries. Among them were 31,000 trade visitors and 1,227 exhibitors from 63 countries. Notably, 76% of these participants journeyed from various corners of the globe to converge at this central hub from gaming. The event's digital footprint also left its mark, amassing over 180 million video views across its diverse program.

Amid the vibrant energy of Gamescom 2023, a subtle yet palpable shift was at play - the growing traction of Web3 gaming. Beneath the surface, a sense of positivity enveloped discussions regarding the integration of Web3 into mainstream gaming. This was evident across various segments of the gaming industry, as game studios and infrastructure projects alike are beginning to recognize the potential of embracing concepts like blockchain, NFTs, and the broader appeal of digital asset ownership and the prospect of interoperability.

Dimensionals

Dimensionals by Mino Games is a fast-paced, high-stakes action-packed RPG with a cartoon art style. The team had a booth that captivated attendees, offering a glimpse into their imaginative IP. Players got the chance to experiment with collecting unique heroes to “save the multiverse” - with these heroes players were able to enter the Rift and battle enemies, explore new dimensions, recruit new Dimensionals, discover new stories, team up, and compete for valuable collector’s items. 

Shardbound

Shardbound is a unique blend of Tactical and Collectible Card Game (CCG) genres. The game's core revolves around strategic positioning, terrain utilization, and leveraging your units' unique abilities to achieve victory. The team brought their magic to life on the Immutable X Bus, enabling attendees to experience their gameplay firsthand. Players had the opportunity to collect units and build armies to compete head-to-head with other players in matches that required both cunning and skill. 

Infinite Victory

Infinite Victory is a dynamic game that redefines the classic 3v3 street basketball model by infusing it with a captivating twist. Beyond the realm of conventional basketball, this game seamlessly amalgamates the essence of five distinct sports: Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Football (Soccer), and American Football. All of this unfolds within the framework of a 3v3 basketball setup, culminating in a concoction akin to Rocket League, yet sporting an inventive athletic flavor. The team unveiled its first playable demo on the Immutable X Bus, marking a significant milestone.

Battle Derby

Battle Derby is a high-octane racing title offering an array of game modes created by Triple O Games - it combines the thrill of arcade driving with strategic challenges. The game was also playable on the Immutable X Bus, showcasing their immersive mobile gaming experience where players got to choose their car and customize it to defeat their opponents in different game modes using Dash, weapons and boosters to navigate the map in search of loot boxes that have them weapons, ammo or health kits. 

League of Kingdoms

League of Kingdoms is an MMO strategy game where gamers can enjoy single-player (PvE), multiplayer (PvP), or party play (MMO). Described as intuitive but sophisticated, fun but tactical, and dynamic but multifaceted game with extensive content, modes, specifications, events, and elements to offer. At their booth, the team shared their strategy behind their web2 to web3 transition and showcased their novel backend technology.

Mythic Protocol

Mythic Protocol is an action RPG roguelite title where players take on waves of enemies in procedurally generated dungeons with boss fights at the end of every level. The game promotes cooperative gameplay, putting players in teams of three where each player is extremely valuable to their team and their overall playstyle. The team commanded attention at the B2B area, unveiling a compelling playable demo to the eager audience - engaging layers for a long time along a varied axis of intrinsic, and extrinsic motivations, randomly generated challenges, power-ups, and maps, helping players to grow their assets with advancements in the game.

Sparkball

Sparkball features top-down gameplay where players control a single hero in objective-based maps similar to MOBAs such as League of Legends, DotA2, or Heroes of the Storm. It is designed to be significantly faster and more action-packed than traditional MOBAs. Combat is intense and relies heavily on skillshots, dodging, and outplaying your opponent rather than farming minions 90% of the time. The team debuted new gameplay trailers, offering sneak peeks to lucky attendees.

The Harvest

The Harvest is a fresh new take on Class-Based Shooters. Players get to fight along with their teammates against other players to take control of the universe's “essence”. At their booth the team treated viewers to new tantalizing gameplay trailers, offering a sneak peek into different combat styles available.

Rogue Nation

Rogue Nation offers a free-to-play mobile-centric cross-platform Rogue-lite Action RPG experience. Players can create and collect distinct characters, pets, weapons, and more to tackle challenging dungeons, raids, and compete against other players. At the booth, the team invited players to partake in their immersive world through playable demos - showcasing how their game emphasizes multiplayer and competitive play, while ensuring a delicate balance between risk and reward to constantly fine-tune player strategies.

Cryowar

Players engage in fierce multi-realm battles in an expansive Sci-Fi Medieval game world. Cryowar is an all-out battle of skill where the best players are in constant battle for resources, territories, and world domination. The team showcased how they have seamlessly blended traditional and mobile gaming, providing hands-on access to their latest offering. The team highlighted exciting features such as their PvP and PvE modes - offering various modes to cater to different players. 

Legends of Elysium

Legends of Elysium is a fantasy Play-and-Earn card game enhanced with strategic elements where players compete with each other during weekly League and monthly competitive tournaments. The team unveiled their latest iteration, allowing attendees to experience the evolving narrative firsthand. Moreover the team showcased how the game combines an immersive classic experience with blockchain technology to deliver a thorough single and multiplayer modes that all players can enjoy.

Cross the Ages

Cross The Ages (CTA) is a mobile-first trading card game set in a dystopian world and based on seven fantasy and science fiction novels written by 13 authors. Cross The Ages makes it possible to collect digital cards with capability for physical activation. Also; they want to develop a full IP making it possible to take advantage of your assets in all the things related to Cross The Ages. The team shared their new decks, building anticipation for their next release after a swift sell-out the previous week. 

Off The Grid

Gunzilla Games has unveiled the premiere gameplay trailer for Off The Grid, offering a thrilling glimpse into the action-packed world of this battle royale sensation. The trailer also continues the tradition of delivering high-quality cinematic sequences that have become a hallmark of this eagerly awaited web3 shooter.

The gameplay trailer prominently features the character Kobra, who serves as the narrator throughout the video. Furthermore, the numbering used in the trailer's introduction hints at the possibility of multiple gameplay segments on the horizon, adding to the excitement surrounding this game.

Complementing the core event were peripheral activities such as the Sequence Event, Saga Multiverse Summit, Stardust and Avalanche, The Metaverse Mixer, and the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA) dinner, which enriched the discourse on Web3 gaming.

With Gamescom 2023 concluding last week, the gaming landscape stands at an interesting crossroads. The intersection of established gaming norms with the innovations offered by blockchain technology presents both promise and challenges.
