In a significant development for the gaming industry, Sky Mavis, the creator of Axie Infinity, has partnered with Act Games, a South Korean game studio renowned for its collaboration with iconic Japanese intellectual properties. The primary objective of this partnership is to migrate Act Games' portfolio of titles to Sky Mavis' Ronin network. The initial step in this migration journey is the introduction of Zoids Wild Arena, a web3 game inspired by Japan's popular anime series.
Axie Infinity, Sky Mavis' breakout title, has achieved significant recognition since its debut in 2021, boasting an impressive $4 billion in player-to-player trading. This success led to the creation of Ronin, their proprietary blockchain network, which is now being extended to other game companies, marking a pivotal shift in the world of web3 gaming.
Act Games has carved a niche for itself through partnerships with beloved Japanese IPs, including Hello Kitty, Zoids, Aggretsuko, and Bubble Bobble. With a track record of over three million downloads across four titles developed since 2019, Act Games is a prominent South Korean gaming studio. Zoids Wild Arena, their latest creation, is inspired by the iconic Zoids Wild and Zoids Wild Zero anime series, which originally originated from Tomy Company in 1983.
The migration to Ronin signifies a significant step forward for Act Games, allowing them to leverage the potential of web3 technology while providing fresh experiences to their existing fanbase. Zoids Wild Arena, which is currently in its beta phase, is poised to launch worldwide, excluding Japan, China, and Korea. This web3 game introduces players to a dynamic gaming experience, where they can engage in battles, trade cards, and partake in the blockchain-powered trading dynamics inspired by traditional trading card games.
The collaboration between Sky Mavis and Act Games is rooted in the pursuit of expanding iconic intellectual properties and enhancing player engagement within the evolving web3 gaming landscape. Players migrating to Ronin's wallet will have the opportunity to earn rewards such as Zoids NFTs and a token airdrop, commencing on November 8th.
Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis.
This partnership signifies a significant milestone in the gaming industry, offering fresh experiences and opportunities to players. The convergence of web3 technology with established intellectual properties marks a promising future at the intersection of blockchain and gaming, where players can anticipate a world of exciting possibilities and unique content.
