Web3 Games Expand to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo

The expansion of web3 gaming to consoles has gained momentum, with multiple titles now confirmed for release on major gaming platforms. While blockchain-enabled games have primarily been available on PC and mobile, recent announcements indicate that more developers are bringing their web3 titles to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo.

Web3 Games x Console

The first blockchain game to make its way to consoles was Gunzilla Games’ Off The Grid, an extraction shooter that launched on Xbox Series X/S in October 2024. The game also became available for early access on PlayStation 5, marking a significant milestone for web3 gaming in the console space.

Following this, Moonray Studios announced plans to expand its multiplayer battle arena game, Moonray, to PlayStation 5. In February 2025, the developer confirmed that the game would also be launching on Xbox later in the year. This marked a steady increase in the number of blockchain-enabled games preparing to enter the console market.

Blockchain Gaming Driving Trends

Several other web3 games have since followed, signaling a broader trend of blockchain adoption in console gaming. AMGI’s AI-powered action shooter, My Pet Hooligan, and Cathedral Studios’ horror-themed FPS, The Bornless, have both been announced for Xbox. These titles incorporate blockchain technology while maintaining traditional gaming elements, making them accessible to a wider audience.

Another notable announcement came from Empires Not Vampires, which confirmed that its social crafting MMO, Paradise Tycoon, will be adapted for consoles. The game was originally developed for mobile, but through a publishing deal with Bonus Stage, it is now set to be released on multiple platforms. Bonus Stage has previously published games on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, though specific details on which consoles will receive the title have not yet been confirmed.

Among the latest announcements, web3 game developer Bisonic revealed that its pixel-art fantasy MMORPG, Forgotten Runiverse, will be launching on all three major console platforms. Unlike some other web3 games that have only confirmed Xbox or PlayStation releases, Forgotten Runiverse will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles, making it one of the most widely accessible blockchain games to date.

Final Thoughts

The recent influx of web3 games moving to consoles indicates a shift in the gaming industry, as blockchain technology becomes increasingly integrated into mainstream gaming. While web3 titles have largely been associated with PC and mobile platforms, the expansion to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo suggests that developers see long-term potential in blockchain gaming for console audiences. As more web3 games continue to transition to consoles, the industry may see further advancements in blockchain-powered gameplay, ownership models, and player-driven economies.
