In a notable development in the gaming industry, Immutable's zkEVM blockchain has attracted three prominent titles, signaling a growing trend of migration towards new blockchain infrastructures. As of 2024, 14 developers have announced their shift to different chains, showcasing a significant paradigm shift in the landscape of online gaming.
Leading the charge is French mobile game studio TapNation, which is set to introduce web3 technology to its portfolio of web2 games. TapNation's popular hypercasual mobile games, Giant Rush and Parking Jam, are slated to join the Immutable X (IMX) ecosystem. TapNation is a leading mobile game publisher that has helped 100 plus game developers publish their games which has generated more than 1 billion downloads.
Philippe Lenormand, Head of web3 at TapNation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "We are thrilled to start this new partnership with Immutable, one of the major players from the web3 ecosystem. We're sure that together we'll drive our web2 players into web3 and take them on an incredible new journey."
Following suit, First Light Games announced the migration of its multiplayer mobile battle royale game, Blast Royale, from Polygon to Immutable's zkEVM.
Co-CEO Anil Das-Gupta conveyed confidence in Immutable's technology, predicting seamless web3 asset ownership, trading, and selling among players. This move underscores the industry's commitment to embracing advanced blockchain solutions for enhanced player experiences.
Additionally, Trading Card Game (TCG)Â Storm Warfare from Janus Interactive Studios, currently residing on Polygon, is set to integrate with Immutable's zkEVM. Alongside this migration, Janus Interactive revealed a collaboration with Polygon Labs to bolster Storm Warfare's blockchain infrastructure.
Notably, Storm Warfare is poised to become the first full-version game to launch on Immutable's zkEVM, solidifying its status as a pioneer in the integration of cutting-edge blockchain technology.
The gaming community is closely watching these developments as the industry undergoes a transformative shift towards blockchain-based ecosystems. Immutable's zkEVM is positioned as a pivotal player in this evolution, attracting major titles and forging strategic partnerships, thereby shaping the future landscape of web3 gaming.
