The Beacon is a game that blends elements of action RPG and roguelite genres, taking players on a journey through a perilous fantasy world. As a roguelite game, it features permadeath and procedurally generated levels. Players begin each run by selecting a basic weapon, and must find upgrades within the procedurally generated dungeons. However, once the run is complete, all upgrades are lost. Each run offers a unique set of challenges.

As most of us have been hatching our eggs over the last couple of days, not everyone will have dove into everything surrounding these lovely pets called Moonfae. We have made this quick and easy guide to cover everything we currently know about these adorable creatures and their benefits to your in-game experience inside The Beacon.

How Did We Get Here?

During the end of November 2022, the launch of the settlement mint, where you could mint NFT characters to play the pre-alpha version of The Beacon. There was an ongoing allow list for Eggs. If you were lucky and blessed enough and got on the allowlist to mint, your price would have been cheaper depending on the amount of characters you minted. You’d have a free mint if you got 2 characters or more for example.

Forward the events to mid-December, the Eggs were minted, and after 4096 NFTs were released into the wild, these rare eggs would only be available to acquire to those who didn't mint through any of the known marketplaces supported for The Beacon NFTs. This includes of course the TreasureDAO native NFT marketplace, Trove, priced in the ecosystem's  native token $MAGIC. With a very solid and steady floor around 400-500 dollars the value by the community was apparent.

From this point onwards, we will split the guide into three sections so let's get right into it. Body parts, Blessings, and the yield boost eggs have to offer The Beacon players, since each of them are unique and deserve their own spotlight.

Bodyparts

Your Moonfae will feature 6 different traits as follows:

• Body
• Belly
• Back
• Mouth
• Eyes
• Head

Each of these will have a letter assigned to it, either a D (dominant) or an R (recessive). Later down the line, when breeding becomes available in The Beacon, the dominant traits are more likely to be passed down to your offsprings during the process. Beside the random generation of the Moonfae's traits, you are guaranteed to have at least 1. The game leaves the potential for players to receive more Ancestral body parts (shown in yellow text). These are only generated with the Gen-0 Moonfae and can later on only be acquired through breeding and being extremely lucky that these traits are passed down to your pet's offspring. These also increase your yield boost %, more on this later in the guide.

Blessings

Not much is released concerning blessings. However, for now you will be able to see how many blessings your Moonfae has by looking at the number of yellow diamonds it boasts on your pet's attribute card. Considering this is the Gen-0 Moonfae, they have the luxury of enjoying a minimum of 2 blessing slots out of 5, and possibly more. On the other hand, future offsprings can normally have fewer, with 1 blessing slot being a possibility. Blessings will bring quality of life features in the future, but as said before, The Beacon hasn't released much information on what it does in-game or it does specifically.

Yield boost

As you can see in the status page of your Moonfae, it will state you will receive at least a 10% yield boost, and can go up to 20% covering anything in between these two numbers. Through our direct interaction with The Beacon team, the yield boost is yet to have direct influence in-game so the possibilities of the studio can pull off with it are endless. This will potentially link to the amount of loot you will receive from chests, and even tokens if ever implemented.

This yield boost will most likely be available for all of the characters that you have stored in the same wallet and will probably not be stackable if you own multiple Moonfae in the same wallet. As you can see, both yield boost and blessings are up for speculation at the moment, and it has been nice to see the community come together and pitch innovative and creative ideas to The Beacon's development team.

A closing personal note I would like to add is praising the Gen-0 eggs' hatching experience. Although a tiny detail, the clicker interaction to hatch your egg was a fun and cool aspect I personally did not expect and enjoyed. It added a lot of excitement and anticipation to the overall Moonfae hatching process. The Beacon continues to be one of the most promising titles in web3 gaming at the moment.
