Variance, the action roguelite metroidvania game, continues its Play-to-Airdrop (P2A) campaign, inviting players to earn rewards through active participation in its beta tests. With Wave 3 wrapped up, all eyes are on Wave 4, set to start on January 27, 2025. Here’s a closer look at what’s happening and how you can get involved.

What is Variance's P2A Campaign?

The Play-to-Airdrop campaign is Variance’s way of rewarding players for engaging in its closed beta testing phases. By completing quests, collecting lootboxes, and acquiring Talismans, participants earn Airdrop Points that lead to rewards during the campaign’s TGE. Variance is also integrated with the Treasure ecosystem, a platform that connects games through the MAGIC token. This connection allows players to potentially use rewards earned in Variance across other games in the Treasure network.

How to Earn P2A Points

Accumulating Airdrop Points is the primary goal of Variance’s P2A campaign. Players can earn points through various in-game activities, including:

Variance Closed Alpha Rewards 

• Completing Daily and Weekly Quests: Engage in tasks that reward lootboxes or directly provide Airdrop Points. You can find the quests tab on the variance game home page. 
• Lootboxes: Open mystery boxes to find Talismans or other rewards that contribute to your point total. You can find your earned loot boxes on the game's inventory tab
• Leaderboards: Compete with others by climbing the ranks. Higher leaderboard positions grant more points and better rewards.

Consistency and performance are key. Players who actively participate and collect rarer items, such as Talismans, will see their points grow faster.

Variance Leaderboard Rewards 

Talismans are a core feature of Variance and play a pivotal role in the P2A campaign. They serve two main purposes:

• Gameplay Enhancement: Talismans provide unique abilities and upgrades that improve your performance during runs. Some might boost your combat power, while others enhance survivability or unlock special moves.
• Airdrop Points Boost: Talismans contribute significantly to your Airdrop Points. Rare Talismans are especially valuable, offering more points and increasing the scale of your rewards.

Talismans can be found in lootboxes, earned through quests, or won via leaderboard rewards. Players are encouraged to hunt for these valuable items to maximize their rewards during the TGE.

How to Get Started

Wave 4 of the P2A campaign begins on January 27, 2025, and getting involved is simple:

1. Join the Variance Discord: Upon arriving at the Variance Discord server, Navigate to the “playtest-access” channel to find all the instructions you need to join the campaign.
2. Earn an Access Pass: New players can participate in social activities, raffles, or community events to secure a Play-to-Airdrop Access Pass.
3. Returning Players: If you’ve participated in earlier waves, your access will automatically carry over.
