The Bornless Joins Xbox’s Growing Web3 Library

Cathedral Studios has announced that its horror first-person shooter, The Bornless, will be coming to Xbox. The UK-based studio confirmed that the game has been accepted into Xbox’s program for independent game developers, making it one of the few web3 titles to secure a spot on the platform. This news follows the recent announcement of AMGI’s My Pet Hooligan also making its way to Xbox, marking a growing presence of blockchain-integrated games in mainstream console gaming. The Bornless will join other web3 titles such as Off The Grid and Moonray in expanding the selection of blockchain-powered games available to console players.

About The Bornless

The Bornless takes place in the 1950s with a survival horror battle royale experience that never fails to terrify you every time you jump in-game. Players are dropped into the thick of the action alongside the first Demon, Orobas. Eight players pair up into teams of two and battle one another in a fight for survival. But there is a twist, it's not just people they'll be fighting.

Having been in development for several years, The Bornless recently conducted a playtest event titled A Storm is Coming. The two-day event attracted a significant number of participants from both web2 and web3 gaming communities. According to the developers, the playtest reached record-breaking engagement levels, signaling growing interest in the game. One of the key features introduced during this test was The Storm, a new mechanic within the game’s Ritual mode. The developers also focused on refining the final moments of each match to improve the overall gameplay experience.

Data from the playtest indicates a steady rise in anticipation for the game. More than 5,500 unique players took part in the event, playing a total of 1,063 matches. Streaming engagement also saw significant numbers, with over 26,000 hours of gameplay watched. Additionally, in-game transactions were active, with 22,000 loot items sold during the event. The combination of growing player numbers and strong engagement metrics highlights the increasing interest in The Bornless ahead of its official launch.

A Step Forward for Web3 Gaming

The arrival of The Bornless on Xbox is another step forward for web3 gaming, demonstrating that blockchain-integrated games are gaining traction beyond PC and mobile platforms. As more web3 titles continue to join mainstream gaming ecosystems, developers are focusing on delivering engaging experiences that appeal to both traditional and blockchain-savvy players.
