Tales of Elleria Shutdown with Final World Boss Event

Tales of Elleria, the web3 role-playing game on Arbitrum, has announced the end of its active development. Despite the team’s best efforts to sustain growth, the game has not been able to generate the necessary revenue to continue expanding. However, the servers will remain online for the foreseeable future, allowing players to continue their adventures in the world of Elleria until the funding for server costs runs out. This article covers the key updates surrounding the closure and the final milestones for players.

What is Tales of Elleria?

Tales of Elleria is a web3 role-playing game where players can summon heroes, undertake quests, and engage in epic adventures to conquer the unknown. Launched on the Arbitrum network, it allowed players to immerse themselves in a world filled with strategic gameplay, battling world bosses, and exploring features such as the Tower of Babel, equipment, and consumables.

The Final Update: PvP Feature

The last significant update for Tales of Elleria is a simplified player-versus-player (PvP) feature, which is set to release this September. Initially intended to be a complex team combat simulation, financial constraints led the development team to reduce the scope of this feature to an auto-battler. While scaled back, this PvP feature will still provide an opportunity for players to test their strategic skills against each other.

This update completes the original roadmap laid out by the development team, which included multiple gameplay elements such as world bosses and other engaging features. The conclusion of this roadmap is a natural part of the game’s lifecycle.

Farewell Event: Zorag World Boss

As a final gesture of gratitude to the community, the Tales of Elleria team is hosting one last World Boss event featuring Zorag. This event, running from September 5th to September 16th, 2024, invites players to come together for one final challenge. To celebrate the occasion, 50,000 $ARB tokens will be distributed to the top 200 players based on their cumulative damage dealt by their heroes during the event. This event is designed to reward loyal players and give them one last opportunity to engage with the game’s content.

The reward distribution will be as follows:

  • 1st Place: 5% of the pool
  • 2nd Place: 4% of the pool
  • 3rd Place: 3% of the pool
  • 4th to 10th Place: 2% of the pool
  • 11th to 25th Place: 1.5% of the pool
  • 26th to 50th Place: 1% of the pool
  • 51st to 100th Place: 0.3% of the pool
  • 101st to 200th Place: 0.1% of the pool

Looking Ahead

While active development has ceased, the game servers will remain online for at least six more months, allowing players to continue exploring the world of Elleria. The game’s economy will remain unchanged, and players can still trade tokens as long as the servers are active. Additionally, the game’s Discord server will be downsized, but one chat channel will remain open to allow the community to stay connected.

The team behind Tales of Elleria encourages players to join in the final events and celebrate the end of the game’s chapter. They express deep gratitude to the entire player base, moderators, partners, and contributors who helped shape the game over the years. Although the game’s journey is ending, the memories and friendships forged in the world of Elleria will endure.

Closing Thoughts from Smashe

In a heartfelt message, Smashe, a key figure behind the game, reflected on the community’s involvement in the development process. He shared his appreciation for the suggestions and feedback that shaped Tales of Elleria, even though the team was unable to implement all the desired changes due to financial constraints.

"As we close this chapter, please know that the spirit of Elleria will live on through the memories we’ve created together. Thank you for being a part of our world, for your unwavering support, and for the endless adventures. Though we part ways now, the legacy of our collective journey will remain forever etched in the annals of time as fabled tales, of Elleria"

Smashe thanked everyone who participated in the game, from players to partners like TreasureDAO and Arbitrum, and expressed his hope that the legacy of Tales of Elleria would continue through the memories created. Although this chapter has come to a close, the spirit of Elleria will live on in the stories shared by its players.
