Opti Games, the developer behind the dynamic esports title Sparkball, has successfully completed a $2 million funding round. This investment, led by L1D with contributions from CMS Holdings, Impossible Finance, Yield Guild Games (YGG), and other backers, aims to support the game's development and upcoming launch phases. The funding announcement closely follows Opti Games’ decision to build Sparkball natively on the Monad blockchain, signaling a strategic focus on leveraging blockchain technology to enhance the gaming experience.

The funding round also attracted support from the Monad ecosystem, including contributions from the Monad angel group "Purple" and Monad CEO Keone Hon, who shared his enthusiasm for the game’s growth. "Not only am I thrilled to see Sparkball building on Monad, but I’m also personally excited to support their growth. The response from the Monad community after the first game night has been phenomenal, and we’re all eager to cheer on Sparkball progress as they head into Season Zero and integrate the Monad Protocol," said Hon.

Sparkball began as a passion project nearly a decade ago under the direction of Chandler Thomlison, founder of Opti Games.
