NFL Rivals, the mobile sports NFT game developed by blockchain-focused studio Mythical Games in collaboration with the National Football League (NFL), witnessed a significant spike in its daily active users (DAU) last Saturday. This surge in popularity is credited to the game's inclusion in the App Store's 'Game of the Day' spotlight.
One of the standout achievements of NFL Rivals is its distinction as the first mobile NFT game to obtain an official license from the NFL. This prestigious endorsement has been instrumental in the game's success, with its player base now boasting over 2 million enthusiasts.
In a strategic move to optimize the gaming experience, Mythical Games transitioned from the Ethereum blockchain to the Polkadot platform. Polkadot, known for its innovative infrastructure, enhances scalability by pooling security across multiple blockchains. This decision was driven by challenges faced on the Ethereum platform, notably slow transaction speeds, even when employing L2 roll-ups. John Linden, the CEO of Mythical Games, emphasized that these limitations hindered their expansion goals, especially with the rollout of new games slated for this year.
Linden's excitement about this milestone was palpable. Taking to social platform X, he remarked, "Web3 is seemingly becoming mainstream! A heartfelt thank you to Apple for spotlighting NFL Rivals on the App Store's front page. This isn't just a significant day for Mythical Games but marks a transformative moment for the entire web3 ecosystem. Achieving over 2 million players and recording the highest ever DAU for NFL Rivals underscores the significance of this achievement."
