In a significant development within the South Korean gaming industry, Netmarble's blockchain subsidiary Marblex has forged a strategic alliance with Wemade's Play Toz, a prominent player in the blockchain gaming scene. The collaboration aims to bring together their expertise to create a joint web3 ecosystem that encompasses games, metaverse, and NFT-based experiences.
As part of the partnership's launch, Play Toz's community platform, TOZ Universe, and Marblex have initiated an airdrop campaign hosted on Gleam. Users participating in designated missions stand a chance to acquire the highly sought-after TOZ Universe FAM NFT, featuring an upgradable 3D avatar.
Wemade, renowned for its mobile gaming success with Anipang, has Play Toz working on a web3 metaverse utilizing the Anipang intellectual property. Beyond this, Play Toz's broader objective is to boost web3 adoption by seamlessly integrating blockchain features into existing web2 experiences.
Wemade's influence extends further through its web3 initiatives, spanning the blockchain gaming platform Wemix Play and diverse web3 titles like Bird Tornado, Mir4, Mir M, and the upcoming Night Crows.
The anticipated web3 MMORPG, Night Crows, will be launching soon worldwide following its initial success in South Korea. The fantasy game, co-developed with South Korean studio Madngine, has garnered attention for its innovative multi-chain technology.
After a debut in South Korea, Night Crows swiftly ascended the charts on both Google Play and the Apple App Store, accumulating over $151 million in in-app purchase (IAP) sales within just seven months. This remarkable success solidifies Night Crows as one of Wemade's flagship IPs.
Similarly, Marblex has been actively integrating web3 features into Netmarble's gaming portfolio, which includes popular titles such as A3: Still Alive, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, The King of Fighters Arena, and Meta World: My City.
This strategic collaboration not only underscores the commitment of both companies to embracing the future of gaming but also signals a broader industry trend towards the convergence of web2 and web3 experiences.
As gamers eagerly anticipate the outcomes of this alliance, the gaming landscape continues to evolve with innovative strides in blockchain, metaverse, and NFT integration.
