Our inaugural GAM3 Awards features over 30 members on its jury to help recognize the best "gam3s" in each of the 16 categories. The event takes place on December 15, and will be livestreamed across all our socials. It is time to get everyone familiar with each member of our jury. We got the opportunity to sit down with each of them to ask them a set questions to help you get to know them more personally, their favorite gaming moment growing up, what pushed them to make the jump into web3 gaming, and their outlook on the future of blockchain gaming.

This time around we got Nathan, the Co-Founder of Ancient8. The organization quickly rose to the position of Vietnam’s largest blockchain gaming guild, and they haven't slowed down since. The team managed to expand upon their services and use the necessary resources to continuously promote quality web3 games that can appeal to traditional gamers whenever they are on display. Ancient8 is one of the few focused on esports, with their Ancient8 Esports team continuously qualifying and even winning Axie Infinity, Cyball, Thetan Arena, and other tournaments as well.

These achievements don't come in as a surprise considering Nathan's experience and history within the traditional gaming's esports scene. If you are unfamiliar with him, we got the opportunity to sit down with him to name his proudest gaming moment, what made him jump into web3 gaming, and where does he want to take Ancient8 next.

What is your proudest gaming moment?

As an individual, I used to compete and participate in many FIFA tournaments back in 2018. Biggest achievement was top 1 in FUTVN Champions League.

As a team, we reached top 1 of the East Region for AxieCon Classic tournament, which was recently held in Barcelona September this year.

What pushed you to transition into work in web3 and choose gaming as your sector of choice?

I started my web3 journey back in 2017, and also gaming has always been a huge passion for me. Being able to blend both is very fascinating and intriguing for me as a career path.

What excites you the most about the current state of web3 gaming?

We understand that shipping a top-notch game takes years of building and maintaining at the top level. As web2 studios are coming into the space, we have witnessed a consistent growth of web3 games quality and diversity of game genres and these are what excites me the most.

Where do you see Ancient8’s role in the future of web3 gaming?

We strive to become the marketing and distribution channel for Web3 games: however, we don’t see ourselves playing a role in just Web3 gaming – we want to become a strong brand / platform in all of gaming – both Web2 and Web3. We are looking to become one of the biggest gaming communities in Vietnam and the broader Southeast Asian region through education, content and software.

If you could name one major milestone yet to happen to push web3 gaming adoption forward, what would it be?

One, or many more, major Esports tournaments that could reach the scale of traditional web2 gaming tournaments (TI, Worlds, etc.) come to mind for me. I believe the gaming industry as a whole will reach the level of music, or the film industry as a form of entertainment and driving adoption from outsiders.

Which game do you think Ancient8 should form an esports team for next? Share this article and tag us on any of our socials to let us know.
