Sony Block Solutions Labs’ blockchain initiative, Soneium, has announced a partnership with Line to integrate four successful mini apps into the web3 ecosystem in the coming months. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between blockchain technology and mainstream digital users, leveraging Line’s significant presence in various regions where it serves as a dominant platform. With nearly 200 million active users, Line’s integration with Soneium is expected to enhance user experiences by making blockchain interactions more accessible, scalable, and seamless.

The initiative will support mini app developers by providing strategic marketing, community-building tools, and intellectual property collaboration. By doing so, Soneium intends to create an ecosystem where developers can focus on innovation while benefiting from the blockchain’s expanding infrastructure.

Line has established itself as a key platform for social and digital services, deeply embedded in the daily digital interactions of millions of users. By incorporating blockchain-powered applications into this ecosystem, Soneium aims to introduce web3 functionalities without disrupting the familiar user experience. This approach aligns with the broader industry trend of making blockchain technology more accessible to general audiences by integrating it into widely used platforms.

In an interview with GamesBeat Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that Line’s established presence and the integration of successful mini apps into the Soneium ecosystem represent an important step in enhancing accessibility. He further noted that this partnership has the potential to increase engagement and adoption in ways that were previously challenging to achieve.

Soneium and LINE MINI App

Mini Apps Transitioning to Soneium’s Blockchain

Among the first four mini apps set to be integrated with Soneium’s blockchain is Sleepagotchi LITE (from the creators of Aavegotchi), a simplified version of the Sleepagotchi Sleep Rewards app designed for iOS and Android. Unlike its full version, this mini app offers a casual gaming experience without requiring users to track their sleep. The game has already gained traction on Telegram, where it reached one million users within a month and became one of the top-grossing apps. By launching on Line, Sleepagotchi LITE aims to expand its reach and community engagement.

Another mini app, Farm Frens, initially gained popularity as a top-ranked Telegram game in 2024. Developed by Amihan Entertainment (creators of Everseed), this farming-themed game became widely recognized within web3 communities due to its engaging and lighthearted gameplay. With over $10 million in funding, Farm Frens is now relaunching with Soneium to introduce Line’s existing web2 users to blockchain-based gaming.

Moonveil – Puffy Match is another addition to Soneium’s growing ecosystem. Developed by Moonveil.gg, a web3 gaming platform that focuses on AI-driven infrastructure, Puffy Match is designed to be a fast-paced game that encourages community interaction and reward-based engagement. By integrating with Line, Moonveil aims to expand its user base and introduce more developers to its web3 gaming infrastructure.

The final mini app in this phase of integration is Pocket Mob, a social strategy RPG developed by Sonzai Labs. Pocket Mob offers a dynamic, interactive experience where players can participate in Mafia-style battles and earn Respect points, which could potentially lead to NFT rewards. The game, originally built for messaging platforms, will now be available on Line, allowing for a more immersive social gaming experience.

Final Thoughts

The collaboration between Soneium and Line highlights the growing intersection of web3 technology and mainstream digital services. By integrating blockchain functionalities into well-established platforms, this partnership aims to remove barriers to entry for users unfamiliar with decentralized applications. At the same time, it provides developers with the tools needed to seamlessly incorporate blockchain technology into their applications.

Sony has indicated that this is only the beginning of its efforts to drive web3 adoption. As more developers recognize the potential of integrating blockchain with widely used digital platforms, the industry is expected to witness a shift toward more practical and user-friendly decentralized applications. Through this collaboration, Soneium and Line are working towards a digital ecosystem where blockchain technology becomes an integral and accessible component of everyday online interactions.
