Aavegotchi

Overview

Aavegotchi is a unique DeFi-enabled crypto collectibles game that combines Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and NFTs. Developed by Singapore-based Pixelcraft Studios, it allows players to stake Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) avatars with interest-generating tokens and interact with the Aavegotchi metaverse.

The Aavegotchis are pixelated ghosts living on the Ethereum blockchain, backed by the ERC-721 standard. Their value is determined by rarity level, which is calculated via multiple factors, such as base traits, amount of staked collateral/aTokens, and equipped wearables.

To level up their Aavegotchis, players can participate in a variety of activities including mini-games, governance, and meetups. Equipping in-game wearables and leveling up can also increase the rarity level of Aavegotchis.

Rare Aavegotchis not only have higher secondary bazaar value, but they also enable the Aavegotchi to perform better in rarity farming. Rarity farming is a mini-game that rewards the rarest Aavegotchis with GHST tokens.

Aavegotchi NFTs

Aavegotchis are a collection of rare crypto-collectibles backed by the ERC-721 standard on the Ethereum blockchain, with each possessing three attributes that determine its overall value and rarity within the Aavegotchi universe: collateral stake, traits, and wearables. Each Aavegotchi manages an escrow contract address that holds an Aave-backed ERC20 collateral, generating yield via Aave's LendingPool, which increases the quantity of aTokens held in the wallet. The amount of aTokens held in an Aavegotchi's escrow address grows over time.

Aavegotchis possess multiple traits that influence their rarity, their performance in mini-games, and the wearables they can equip. Random traits are assigned to every Aavegotchi upon birth and are distributed on a bell curve, with each trait assigned a rarity value of Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Mythical. Kinship starts at a fixed value (50) upon birth and increases or decreases based on various factors, such as how long the Aavegotchi has been with the same owner and how often the owner interacts with it.

Experience is gained by Aavegotchis as they vote in AavegotchiDAO and participate in mini-games, which leads to them leveling up and receiving one Spirit Point every three levels that can be allocated towards increasing or decreasing a certain trait. Wearables are child NFTs that can be managed by Aavegotchis through the ERC998 Composables standard and can increase or decrease certain traits of an Aavegotchi, depending on the wearable.

The relationship between Collateral stake, Traits, Wearables, and Kinship is best represented by an Onion Diagram. With Aavegotchis, users can earn GHST tokens by staking their Aavegotchis, increasing their rarity level by equipping in-game wearables and leveling up, and performing well in rarity farming, a mini-game that rewards the rarest Aavegotchis with GHST tokens.

Gotchiverse Realms

The Gotchiverse is a virtual world divided into three zones - the Citaadel, the Grid, and the Beyond. The Citaadel, protected by a force field, is the home base of Aavegotchis. The Great Portal, a magical structure located in the Citaadel, is a landmark that connects the Gotchiverse to the Human Realm. The Grid is outside the Citaadel and has plentiful parcels, but owners should beware of the lurking lickquidators. The Beyond is locked and will not be unlocked until Act 2.

Players can engage in various activities, such as farming, crafting, trading, and combat. Gotchus Alchemica is a resource that players can collect to produce more yield, and they can also build defensive structures to prepare for the coming of the Prophecy and the great lickquidator invasion. Players can employ their Aavegotchis to farm their parcels, and the resources collected can be combined to create powerful structures known as Installations.

Aavegotchis are spectral species living on the Ethereum blockchain that love farming, voting, and shitposting with their frens. Their value and rarity are determined by their collateral stake, traits, and wearables. A key landmark in the Grid is the Aarena, where Aavegotchis with high enough Spirit Force can battle each other in epic Battle Royales, competing for their opponents' Spirit Force.

Lickquidators are creatures that players can opt to play as by earning Lickquidator Credits, which can be earned by completing tasks, referring friends, participating in airdrops, or purchasing with GHST. The main goal of a lickquidator is to collect loose Alchemica spilled around the Gotchiverse and engage in combat with Aavegotchis and offensive Installations to earn Alchemica. Lickquidators are envisioned as a free-to-play entry point to the Gotchiverse Realm, with no cap on supply and limited collectability.

Recent Updates 

In Early 2024, Aavegotchi introduces groundbreaking developments to enhance the blockchain gaming landscape. Key highlights include the launch of the Aavegotchi Gaming Console for cross-game progression, updates on the 3D Gotchiverse, new features in Spirit Force Arena, and a sneak peek at the new map for Gotchi Guardians. 

Additionally, the update covers NFT rewards for Licky’s Escape and insights into AavegotchiDAO-supported games, showcasing Pixelcraft Studios' commitment to innovation and community engagement in the evolving world of Aavegotchi. 

How to Get Started

To get started with Aavegotchi, there are a few options: borrowing an Aavegotchi from someone who has one, buying an Aavegotchi from the Baazaar, or participating in a portal drop. Once you have an Aavegotchi in your wallet, you can access REALM gameplay at verse.aavegotchi.com. There are different costs associated with obtaining an Aavegotchi depending on the method, such as buying an Unopened or Opened Portal from the Baazaar or buying an Aavegotchi from someone else selling it.

However, there is also a 100% on-chain Gotchi Lending program that allows for free borrowing of an Aavegotchi. In terms of earning money, The Gotchiverse has four play-to-earn ERC-20 tokens known as Gotchus Alchemica, which can be used to craft Installation NFTs or traded for GHST.
