HV-MTL NFT Collection Gets Acquired

The HV-MTL collection of robot NFTs has been acquired by entrepreneur Adam Weitsman. The collection was originally launched by Yuga Labs in March 2023 and later acquired by Faraway Games in April 2024. Weitsman, who previously purchased the 1-of-1 Golden Key NFT from Yuga Labs’ Dookey Dash game for $1 million in 2023, confirmed the acquisition on X. He stated that he would collaborate with fellow HV-MTL collector and web3 developer Gabe8bit to further develop the collection and ensure its inclusion in the forthcoming Otherside metaverse.

Faraway Games’ Role and Shift in Focus

Faraway Games initially acquired the HV-MTL collection from Yuga Labs with the intention of integrating the NFTs into its gaming titles, including Shatterline, Rebel Skies, and Villains. In recent months, the company has shifted its focus toward AI agents and the Fchain blockchain. This change in direction left the HV-MTL collection surplus to its requirements, prompting the sale to Weitsman.

Market Response to the Acquisition

News of the change in ownership had a noticeable effect on the NFT’s market value. The floor price of HV-MTL NFTs initially tripled following the announcement, before stabilizing at a 50 percent increase, reaching 0.035 ETH, approximately $150. This response highlights continued market interest in the collection and in web3 projects associated with established NFT creators like Yuga Labs.

Weitsman’s Broader Web3 Investments

In addition to the HV-MTL collection, Weitsman has recently invested in Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse. His acquisitions include over 5,000 Otherdeeds, Mega Kodas, and Weapon Kodas NFTs purchased directly from Yuga Labs. These investments demonstrate Weitsman’s continued engagement with web3 projects and NFT-based metaverse platforms, suggesting potential developments for the HV-MTL collection within a broader digital ecosystem.
