Hexagon Studios, developer of the web3 mobile game Honeyland, has announced a new partnership with the VGX Foundation. This collaboration aims to provide the Honeyland community with token rewards and exclusive in-game items. What is Honeyland?

Honeyland is a free-to-play mobile and desktop game where players manage a colony of bees exploring various universes in search of a new home. The game combines elements of strategy, resource management, and community interaction, allowing players to experience both cooperative and competitive gameplay.

Players start with a Gen Z Queen and a set of Gen Z Bees, and through various activities, they can grow their colonies, enhance their bees, and interact with other players. The game is built on the Solana blockchain.

The primary currency in Honeyland is Honey ($HXD), used for breeding and other in-game activities. Players can acquire $HXD tokens through gameplay or purchase them. The introduction of custom .hxd subdomains adds a personalized touch to players' in-game identities.

New Partnership with VGX Foundation

The latest partnership will benefit holders of Honeyland's Genesis Eggs, Bees, or Queens, who will receive $VGX tokens as part of the new rewards initiative. A snapshot was taken on June 6th at 5 PM UTC to determine eligibility.

Players holding one of these NFTs before this time will receive an unspecified amount of $VGX tokens from the VGX Foundation. Corey Wright, CEO of Hexagon Studios, commented on the partnership:

Additionally, all Honeyland players can claim a free VGX-themed cosmetic trait from the Honeyland Cosmetic Shop until June 19th. This cosmetic trait is a “Mad Hatter” style hat, which can be fused with any Bee to boost the Bee’s Capacity trait.

The VGX Foundation focuses on expanding the utility of the $VGX token across various web3 gaming platforms. This partnership with Honeyland follows previous collaborations, such as with Gala Games, where the VGX token was integrated into several games and listed on GalaSwap. Through these partnerships, the VGX Foundation aims to connect different gaming ecosystems.

The VGX Foundation is separate from the now-bankrupt Voyager Digital. The current team was established to support the VGX ecosystem by integrating the token into multiple blockchain games. They are using a new treasury to provide grants to developers who incorporate the $VGX token into their games.
