Immutable, the developer behind Guild of Guardians (GoG), has officially announced the launch of the highly anticipated Frostmire expansion. Scheduled for release on October 16th, Frostmire will be the largest update for the hybrid free-to-play and web3 game since its initial launch.
This expansion will introduce two new Legendary Guardians, fresh gameplay elements, and raise the maximum Commander level to 120, offering players enhanced opportunities for progression and new equipment to improve their squad's performance.

In Guild of Guardians (GoG), players dive into the fantastical world of Elderym, teetering on the brink of annihilation at the hands of the Dread. Whether you're a seasoned RPG enthusiast or new to the genre, Guild of Guardians welcomes you to a world of limitless adventure and intense strategic gameplay. The web3 IP is developed by Mineloader, published by Immutable, and launched on the Immutable zkEVM blockchain.
Set against the backdrop of snow-covered mountain peaks and frozen plains, Frostmire provides players with a new environment to explore. This stark, wintry realm stands in contrast to the previously explored lands, immersing players in a narrative-driven pilgrimage to Wellspring, an ancient site tied to the lore of one of the expansion's new heroes.
As Commanders and their Guardians journey through this frozen terrain, they will uncover more of the game's evolving story while battling enemies and uncovering surprises along the way. Ella Lowgren, the creative designer for Guild of Guardians, emphasized the contrasting visuals of the new expansion.
“We used a different color palette for this realm than has been used before, and the music reflects the whimsical, icy environment. Players can expect new enemies and challenges as they ascend to Stormkeep, which lies at the summit of Frostmire’s tallest mountain,” Lowgren noted.

The Frostmire expansion will also debut two new Legendary Guardians: Lisca and Dolvir. Each brings a unique combat style to the game, enhancing squad dynamics. Dolvir, also known as “Earth’s Fury,” is a powerful warrior linked to the natural world. He introduces a strong offense-based option for players looking to dominate on the battlefield. Lisca, a hunter native to Frostmire, specializes in ranged combat, offering witty dialogue and a sharp aim, alongside her fondness for sweet treats.
“We’re excited for players to add these new Guardians to their lineups and test out the new synergies they bring to the squad,” said Chris Clay, Game Director of Guild of Guardians. The addition of these Legendary Guardians adds strategic depth, allowing players to experiment with new team compositions as they face the trials of the frozen tundra.

In addition to new characters, the Frostmire expansion will raise the Commander level cap from 100 to 120, introducing new opportunities for experienced players. As part of this progression, players can access higher-level equipment, with the introduction of Level 7 gear designed to give squads a tactical edge during battles. This equipment is especially beneficial for those who have reached the endgame content, unlocking new rewards and enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
The expansion’s narrative focus also aims to further immerse players in the world of GoG. “We want each GoG expansion to have a narratively compelling story that drives players to want to learn more about this world,” said Clay, highlighting the importance of storytelling in the Frostmire update. He emphasized that the new location, Guardians, and equipment all work together to enrich the player experience.
Leaderboard Rewards
Since its launch in May, Guild of Guardians has grown steadily, approaching one million downloads and attracting 250,000 monthly active users. The game has distributed over $500,000 in rewards through the Immutable Rewards program. Immutable Games, the developer arm behind GoG, has also worked on other successful projects, such as the popular NFT trading-card game Gods Unchained.
With the release of Frostmire, Guild of Guardians is set to expand its footprint in the web3 gaming space, offering players fresh challenges, deeper narratives, and expanded gameplay. Players can look forward to October 16, when the new Guardians Lisca and Dolvir will be available for summoning or purchase, and the frozen tundra of Frostmire will open up for exploration.
