Gods Unchained is releasing a new card expansion titled Guardians of Elderym as part of a continued collaboration with Guild of Guardians, a well-known fantasy role-playing game in the web3 space. The expansion brings 76 new cards, introduces new mechanics, and integrates characters from the Guild of Guardians universe into the gameplay of Gods Unchained. This latest crossover builds on the narrative link between the two games, placing iconic heroes from Elderym into the setting of Faenar, the central world of Gods Unchained.
Gods Unchained Partners with GOG
The Guardians of Elderym expansion includes 76 new cards. Among these, there are seven Legendary cards and six Mythic Art Variants. The Mythic cards are unique digital assets, each featuring custom artwork and offered as one-of-a-kind non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Players can acquire the new cards by purchasing packs, which are available in three formats. Booster Packs are priced at $1.99 and cater to casual players by offering a general distribution of card rarities.
Premium Packs, sold at $19.99, increase the likelihood of receiving rare cards and may include exclusive Mythic Variants. The most limited option, Shiny Packs, costs $199.99 and guarantees cards of Shadow shine or higher with Epic rarity or above, also including exclusive Mythic content. A fixed supply of 30,000 Booster Packs, 3,000 Premium Packs, and 600 Shiny Packs ensures limited availability throughout the sale.
A key addition to the gameplay is the introduction of the Level Up keyword. This mechanic allows specific cards to gain enhanced abilities after a player has spent a defined amount of mana during the match. For example, a card labeled “Level Up 5” will activate its upgraded effect after the player spends five total mana over the course of multiple turns. This mana usage is cumulative and applies even to card copies generated during gameplay. The inclusion of Level Up adds a new strategic layer that rewards long-term planning and resource management.
The expansion highlights six Mythic Art Variants: TianLong, Phoenicia, Oxellus, Kharkuk, Lia, and Ennara. Each of these digital cards is a one-of-one NFT with visuals that align closely with the card’s in-game function. TianLong, for instance, gains strength in decks that focus on spell use, while Phoenicia revolves around burn damage and effects that target gods. Oxellus provides protection and ward abilities, offering utility in controlling board states. These cards will be distributed through various methods, including Premium and Shiny Packs as well as event-based rewards.
Players will be able to purchase Guardians of Elderym packs directly through the Gods Unchained website starting June 24 at 11 AM AEST. The sale period will last 28 days or until all packs are sold. To participate, users must connect their wallets and be on the Immutable zkEVM network. Accepted currencies include GODS, ETH, IMX, GOG, and USDC. These requirements ensure compatibility with the web3 infrastructure supporting the game.

In addition to standard gameplay modes, the expansion will be featured in Sealed Mode, a limited-format competition that challenges players to build decks from a random card pool. The updated Sealed Mode includes four reward tiers, with the highest reward tier offering a Heroic Pack. This pack provides increased odds of obtaining Mythic and Legendary cards. Some exclusive items, such as the Skeleton Assassin and Water Elemental trinkets, are only available through Sealed Mode. Lia’s Mythic Art Variant is also among the rewards players can earn by performing well in this format, making it an important route for those interested in collectible content.
Following the release of Guardians of Elderym, the developers will observe a four-week balancing period. During this time, card performance will be evaluated and adjustments will be made as needed. This practice aims to maintain a fair and competitive environment while providing time to respond to any unforeseen imbalances introduced by the new cards and mechanics. After the balance window ends, the card set will be finalized, with no further changes made.
