Our GAM3 Awards, a significant event within the web3 gaming realm, is scheduled to make a comeback this December 2023. The event's panel of judges comprises a mix of familiar individuals from the previous year and fresh representatives hailing from diverse sectors of web3 gaming. This year's notable additions encompass personalities from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem specialists, infrastructure partners, content creators, as well as well-established figures in the gaming industry and tech giants such as Amazon and Google.

We are proud to introduce one of our jury members Brendan Wong, co-founder of AVOCADO DAO. Brendan built AVOCADO into the foremost web3 gaming guild of 2021, while simultaneously fostering the growth of gaming and crypto communities in Southeast Asia, with a primary focus on the Philippines and Indonesia. This effort involved not only cultivating these communities but also promoting the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies through educational initiatives and the creation of new opportunities. 

 1. What is the most enjoyable part of your role? 

“The most fulfilling aspect of my role lies in the realization that I am actively promoting a technology that is here to stay, whilst simultaneously creating opportunities for communities that stand to gain from its widespread adoption. My position also grants me the privilege to travel extensively and connect with the most brilliant minds in the space, working towards spearheading innovations and advancements through blockchain technology.”

 2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year? 

“Over the past few years, I've observed web3 game developers observing and learning from one another, which is a promising development as we collectively navigate the early stages of blockchain gaming. To overcome current challenges, it's crucial that we collaborate to devise effective token economy models for games. I firmly believe in this approach, and once we solve this, it can serve as a blueprint for future innovators. In summary, web3 gaming has made significant progress compared to the previous year, but there's still much work ahead of us.”

 3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any? 

“I see the potential of web3 in enabling custodial ownership of game assets, ensuring transparency in game mechanics, item creation, and trade histories. But what excites me the most is the prospect of token holders having genuine governance and ownership over a game, as I believe this would be the most significant enhancement.”

 4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming? 

“I maintain an optimistic outlook as I closely monitor titles like Bigtime, Phantom Galaxies, Apeiron, Parallel Life and eagerly await the launch of other noteworthy games. Notably, the quality of releases has shown significant improvement since 2021 in reference to product quality, tokenomics, and game mechanics. As a result, my expectations for 2024 and beyond remain very confident.”

The return of our GAM3 Awards in 2023 promises to be a celebration of the web3 gaming industry's growth and innovation. With industry figures like Brendan Wong on the jury, the event is set to recognize excellence in the ever-evolving world of web3 gaming.
