Deadrop is an intense pre-alpha game with intricate mechanics and a steep learning curve. At the time of writing this, the latest Snapshot VI brought forth numerous enhancements, including the addition of Cleaner squads. These formidable groups have an unnerving purpose, attempting to collect the bodies and unlooted Death Bags of fallen Claws. It marked the introduction of a more sophisticated communication system, allowing Claws and Variants to squad up, track each other's positions, and avoid friendly fire.

The new Proving Ground added an extra layer of clutch moments and adrenaline-filled gunfights for players to enjoy. To help you navigate this challenging world, our Deadrop guide has all the essential tips and tricks you need to know before jumping straight into it. Whether you're a newbie or seasoned player, you'll find these pointers valuable in improving your gameplay.

Lower Your In-game Graphic Settings

Deadrop, being in its pre-alpha stage, can be buggy, and to mitigate that, it's advised to adjust your in-game graphic settings. Navigate to your settings tab and access the Graphics section. Optimize your gaming experience by following these steps:

  1. Screen Mode: Switch to full screen for maximum FPS.
  2. Resolution: Match this to your monitor's resolution.
  3. FOV (Field of View): This is based on preference, but a setting of 120 FOV is recommended for a wider view.
  4. Quality: Set this to low for a smoother gameplay experience.
  5. Render Quality: A balance between performance and aesthetics is suggested, so keep this between 50 to 70.

Remember to save these changes for them to take effect.

Changing Your In-game Name

Customize your in-game identity by changing your name. This can be done via the Midnight Society website. Once logged in, click on the claw symbol on the top-right corner and select 'Profile'. You'll find the option to edit your in-game name under the Founder Profile section; make your change and hit 'Submit' to finalize.

Splitting Ammo and Bandages

Splitting resources such as ammo and bandages can be performed by left-clicking and dragging the item into an empty slot. While doing this, hold down 'Ctrl' before releasing the item. This function is available in-game and can be crucial when sharing resources with teammates.

Jumping Off the Zip Line

To avoid being an easy target while using a zip line, jump a few feet before reaching the end. Pairing this with another jump right before landing provides a short speed boost, allowing you to evade enemies effectively.

Leaning While Aiming Down Sights (ADS)

Leaning during ADS can be set up via keybinds based on your comfort and preference. This can give you an upper hand during combat, making you a harder target to hit while maintaining accuracy.

Stowing Your Weapon

Stowing your weapon can make you run faster, especially when evading enemy fire. Check your keybindings to understand the command for stowing your weapon.

Loot Bag Handling

Introduced in Snapshot VI, this feature allows you to carry the loot bag of players you eliminate. Press 'F' to pick up the bag, find a safe spot, and go through the loot at your convenience.

Utilize Adrenaline Spray

For beginners, using the adrenaline spray can be a game-changer. It temporarily boosts movement speed and reduces damage taken. However, remember to take cover when using it, as your movement speed will slow down considerably while applying it.

Climbing Vines on Proving Grounds 2 Map

The Proving Grounds 2 map features green vines that can be climbed up or down using the interact button. They're easy to spot, but be careful not to make any hasty moves that could throw you off.

Saving Space in Your Stash

Managing your stash is crucial in Deadrop, as the game doesn't allow you to start if your stash exceeds 250. One way to circumvent this is by shift-clicking on a weapon in your stash and attaching every possible attachment to it. This reduces the total item count in your stash, allowing you to continue gaming. This strategy can also be applied in-game to fit more items in your bag and extract with more loot.

By implementing these tips and tricks, you're sure to see improvements in your Deadrop gameplay. Remember to practice and get comfortable with these techniques. Whether you're evading enemies, managing your loot, or adjusting your settings for optimal gameplay, each tip brings you one step closer to becoming a Deadrop pro.
