War of Nova is a sci-fi strategy MMO set in a galaxy on the brink of all-out war. Developed by Revolving Games, it blends classic 4X gameplay (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) with real-time multiplayer mechanics and a seasonal progression system. Choose a faction, build your base, gather resources, command your fleet, and fight for control of key star systems and a powerful ancient artifact that could tip the scales of galactic power.
The galaxy's uneasy peace is shattered when a lost artifact of immense power resurfaces. Every major power wants it. No one can afford to ignore it.
What follows is a massive standoff between two dominant alliances, each made up of multiple factions with their own goals and ideologies. From militaristic warlords to cosmic scholars, each faction has its reasons for going to war. As a player, you step into the role of a commander tasked with carving out territory, forming alliances, and helping your side claim victory.
You’ll align with one of eight factions, each with distinct themes, aesthetics, and strategic perks:
War of Nova leans heavily into classic 4X gameplay: explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate. You start by scouting nearby star systems to uncover planets, track down resources, or reveal threats. Expansion means claiming territory, upgrading your base, and increasing your influence across the galaxy. Resource management plays a major role, you gather water, minerals, gas, titanium, and the rare Helion to fuel everything from construction to fleet deployment. When diplomacy fails (and it often will), it’s time to exterminate. Tactical fleet combat lets you go head-to-head with other players or hostile NPCs.
Faction choice also plays into your overall strategy. Some factions are better at economic growth, others are tuned for raw combat, and a few lean into support or tech-focused advantages. No two playthroughs feel the same depending on what route you take.
Your base is the engine behind your empire. Construct and upgrade Command Centers, Processing Plants, Hangars, and other facilities to boost your production and military capabilities. Squadrons function as mobile hubs for launching attacks or holding the line. You can build up to three, giving you flexibility in how and where you strike.
There are multiple currencies to manage:
The galaxy map is made up of hex-based tiles, and controlling the right ones can make or break your run. Some tiles are resource-rich, while others give you important strategic positioning. Knowing where to expand and what to hold is a major part of your long-term success.
Tiles are assigned to specific resource production such as water, gas, minerals, or titanium. Influence levels on each tile determine how much output you get over time. If you're eyeing the best tiles, expect resistance. Some are defended and will need to be cleared before you can claim them.
Ships are the core of your Battlegroup and come in a variety of roles. Choose from Assault, Command, Intelligence, Support, and Multirole classes. Each ship has its own strengths and stat profile, including Leadership, Power, Initiative, and elemental damage. Building a balanced fleet around these roles gives you flexibility in battle.
Strike Crafts are attached to ships and act as your frontline damage dealers. They come in three sizes—Light, Medium, and Heavy—and are further divided into Close-Range or Long-Range types. Each craft costs Command Points based on its size, so loadout decisions matter. Stats like Damage, Health, Speed, Defense, and Siege power define how they perform in different scenarios.
Officers give your fleets and economy a serious boost. Assigning the right ones can improve ship performance, unlock passive bonuses, or speed up key production times. Officers fall into four types: Combat, Command, Support, and Engineering. Each brings unique value to your setup.
Officer rarity also plays a role. Uncommon officers are basic and cannot be upgraded. Rare officers can have their stats improved. Epic and Legendary officers allow full upgrades, including their active skills.
You can also merge spare officers into others using Enhance and Augment features. This boosts stats or unlocks new skills, provided the officers are of the same type and rarity. Developing a solid roster of officers is essential for gaining an edge as you climb the ranks.
War of Nova is now fully live on mobile, with a PC version on the way. The first official Season has launched, featuring a massive 250,000,000 $RCADE prize pool in the game’s biggest Play-to-Airdrop event so far. All rewards are 100% unlocked at Token Generation, giving players a real incentive to rise through the ranks, take control of the map, and lead their faction to victory.
