Variance is set in the expansive Realmverse, a community-driven universe where players can delve deep into the lore while mastering action-packed levels. As a roguelite with metroidvanian elements, the game is designed to offer intense replayability, allowing players to engage in challenging runs where every attempt is different from the last. With progression being fully skill-based, players can unlock new skills and abilities as they advance, with no pay-to-win elements.

Inspired by anime-style combat, the game features fast-paced action, fluid animations, and stunning visual effects for special attacks and combos. Players face unique and challenging enemies in each level, requiring them to continuously adapt their strategies.

NFTs and Blockchain
Variance is powered by the Somnia network, allowing players to own their in-game assets in a real sense while maintaining smooth and accessible gameplay. Its first NFT release, the Variance Collection, introduces AI-generated avatars known as Variants. Each Variant serves as a personal digital identity that evolves as you play, unlocking visual upgrades, new traits, and exclusive rewards tied to your in-game achievements.

Owning a Variant comes with extra perks beyond cosmetics. Holders gain early access to new updates, special Aura bonuses, and unique customization options that can’t be earned through regular gameplay. Some future content and events in the Realmverse will also recognize Variant holders with added rewards or alternate story paths.
Latest Updates (2025)
Variance has officially entered the Somnia ecosystem, paving the way for multiplayer, mobile, and console expansions using Somnia’s scalable, blockchain infrastructure. Ahead of its full launch, the game ran its first open playtest from July 31 to August 3, where players tested new modes, unlocked lootboxes, and engaged with evolving gameplay systems.
In September 2025, Variance launched its first major NFT drop, the Variance Collection, minting generative AI Variants on Somnia’s mainnet. These NFTs serve as customizable digital identities and unlock in-game perks, Aura rewards, and early access to content across the game.
