Overview
Townies is a play-to-earn city-building strategy game built on the Base network where players create, expand, and manage their own virtual towns. The game focuses on resource management and economic growth, letting players construct buildings, produce materials, and convert them into $GOLD, the in-game token that powers its economy. Every action, from building a house to producing iron, contributes to a transparent and community-driven system designed around efficiency and planning.

Gameplay and Features
Townies follows a resource-based progression cycle familiar to fans of city-building games. The main loop focuses on turning basic materials into more valuable ones through structured upgrades:
Generate Wood – passive income from your Town Board.
Build Houses – use Wood to produce Stone.
Construct Forges – convert Stone into Iron.
Build Churches – generate $cGOLD and boost Forge production.
Expand Your Board – unlock additional tiles to place new buildings.
Build a Castle – transform $cGOLD into $GOLD, the tradable token.
Each step connects to the next, forming a continuous cycle of gathering, refining, and earning. Success depends on managing your resources, placement, and timing rather than spending or randomness.

Land and Tile Expansion
Every player’s city begins with a 3-tile starting area on a 30-tile board. Unlocking new tiles provides space for additional buildings and strategic layouts. Positioning is important because spacing and resource proximity can influence efficiency, making city planning a key part of the strategy.
Expanding requires resources and, later on, $GOLD. Each decision to unlock a tile influences both your growth rate and future production potential. Town expansion is gradual but steady, rewarding consistent management over time.

Building System
Each building type plays a specific role in your city’s ecosystem. Understanding how they interact is key to keeping your economy efficient.
Most buildings can be upgraded up to Level 3 to improve output and efficiency. The Castle serves as the final structure, and while it cannot be upgraded, it plays an important role in converting in-game progress into real value.

Resource Management
Townies revolves around five main resources, each serving a purpose in progression and production:
Wood: Generated passively; used for basic construction and repairs.
Stone: Produced by Houses; needed for mid-tier structures.
Iron: Created by Forges; required for high-level buildings and Castles.
$cGOLD: Generated by Churches; used as a soft currency for conversions.
$GOLD: ERC-20 token produced at the Castle; usable for upgrades and tradable on Base.
The challenge lies in balancing production speed and spending. Some actions can be accelerated by spending $GOLD directly, while others rely on organic generation over time.
Building Maintenance
Structures degrade gradually and require periodic maintenance. Players can use a mix of in-game resources or $GOLD to repair them. Neglecting maintenance stops production, forcing you to plan your upkeep schedule carefully.
This mechanic keeps gameplay active and discourages long absences. Staying engaged with your town ensures your economy keeps running smoothly.
Cross-Platform Play
Townies is available across multiple platforms:

Players can earn passive bonuses through the referral system and compete on Builder Boards, which highlight the most efficient cities and production strategies. Rewards come in both $cGOLD and $GOLD.
