The Desolation is a third-person looter-shooter set in a future where humanity struggles to survive against the Shade, a synthetic alien race that’s taken over Earth. Players step into the role of Chimera, elite mercenaries outfitted with customizable Exo Suits, leading the charge in reclaiming the planet. The game supports both PC and mobile platforms, with 3-player cooperative combat and a flexible build system that offers varied ways to approach each mission. 

Gameplay and Features

In The Desolation, the gameplay focuses on intense 3-player cooperative combat where each player’s unique skills and abilities are essential for success. You can enhance your effectiveness on the battlefield by customizing drones that offer offensive, defensive, or supportive roles, adding layers of strategy to each mission. Clan tournaments and scalable challenges provide a competitive edge, rewarding teams that excel in collaboration and synergy. With an evolving world driven by procedural missions, no two playthroughs are alike—each mission offers new layouts, objectives, and enemies, keeping the experience dynamic and unpredictable. Plus, players can create and share their own missions, adding to the community-driven endgame content.

The game’s loot-driven system is equally dynamic, giving players the ability to craft and upgrade their Exo Suits and gear as they gather resources during missions. This economy-driven approach extends into web3 features, allowing players to mint fully-upgraded gear as NFTs that can be traded or sold. The core game loop is straightforward but engaging: choose a mission, deploy into the battlefield, complete objectives, secure your loot, and return to base to upgrade your equipment. As you continue to progress, these upgrades unlock new abilities and content, feeding back into the ever-changing world of The Desolation.

Deep Build Customization

Customization plays a major role, especially with the Exo Suits, which feature nine equipment slots. Players can adjust their loadouts to fit their preferred playstyle, whether that’s focusing on dealing damage, tanking, or supporting teammates. This customization extends to class specializations, allowing you to unlock and upgrade skill trees that further define your role in battle. Weapons are procedurally generated, meaning every weapon you find or craft is unique, offering endless combinations and strategic options.

Dungeons and Bosses

Dungeons provide some of the toughest challenges in The Desolation. They’re designed for cooperative play and feature complex mechanics, randomized elements, and powerful bosses. These endgame encounters require careful planning and teamwork, and defeating a dungeon boss can reward you with rare and powerful gear, including Legendary and Mythic items.

Player Base - Your Home Ship

Between missions, you’ll return to your home ship, where you can craft new gear, upgrade your Exo Suit, and extract resources. The home ship acts as a personal hub where you can also conduct research to unlock new technologies and customize it with additional features to suit your style of play.

NFT and Blockchain

Currently, The Desolation NFTs are available for sale on Open Loot which need to acquire by players to access the game. These NFTs can include Exo Suits, gear, and maps, which are essential for accessing and playing the game. Once you’ve collected these items, you can upgrade them and mint them as NFTs through the Minting Station. This process transforms your fully-upgraded suits, gear, and maps into digital assets that hold value beyond the game.

In-game activities such as completing missions and participating in Battleworld will earn you Desolation Tokens. These tokens are integral to the game’s economy and can be used within the game or transferred to crypto wallets. By minting your upgraded items as NFTs and participating in the game’s economy, you can engage in buying, selling, or trading, effectively merging your in-game progress with real-world opportunities.

How to get Started

The Desolation is currently in the early stages of its release. The game can be downloaded from the official website, but you'll need NFTs to fully access the game. The Desolation will soon be available on Steam, so keep an eye out for its release on that platform. Additionally, you can sign up on The Desolation Quest Program where you earn points and win Desolation Tokens before its release.
