The Bornless is a survival horror game set in the 1950s that delivers a consistently terrifying battle royale experience. With each new game, players are thrown into the heart of the action alongside the powerful demon, Orobas. The game pits eight players against each other, forming four teams of two, as they fight for survival in a grueling competition. However, there's a catch - the players won't just be battling each other, but also facing off against otherworldly creatures. In our The Bornless guide, we take a look what everything you need to know and what to do when the dark demons come chasing you.
To emerge victorious in the game, each team must vie with the other three pairs for the highest number of kills. Meanwhile, strategically placed Incense can be found scattered throughout the map. Collecting and burning the Incense in designated cauldrons can summon a potent demon, which can serve as a powerful deterrent against enemy progress.
The valuable resource that is Incense is hotly contested, and it's distributed in various locations across the map. Teams that neglect to contest strategic landmarks or fail to make good use of important resources may find themselves struggling to keep up. In such cases, the demon may relentlessly stalk them across the map, making it all the more challenging for them to remain competitive in the game.
Now that we have gotten the essentials of the game mechanics out of the way, it is time to dive into our The Bornless guide.
At the Shooting Range, you can test out the current weapons in the game, perfect your aim, and get a feel for the weapon spread and damage by taking down scarecrows.
In the Orobas Gamemode, four teams of two players engage in a PvPvE Battle Royale, where they must gather resources, purchase weapons, and hunt their enemies. But be warned, there's a bloodthirsty demon, Orobas, roaming the map, hunting players as well. Each match comprises six rounds: one pre-round, four main rounds, and a final round. During the pre-round, all beacons are active, and all resources and shops are available for players to search for incense, ammo, and weapon shops.
When the pre-round ends, only one beacon remains active, and shops and incense chests in areas outside of the beacon's control become unusable. The players must now fight for the available resources, and each active beacon has a Shrine where players can summon Orobas once per main round to fight for their team and attack other teams at random. After the Shrine has been used, a Control Zone appears around it, and staying uncontested in the zone enables other teams to take control of Orobas.
The fifth and final beacon appears over the catacombs after the four main rounds have passed. Orobas is then summoned on his own, attacking any and all players. However, players can gain his favor by spending incense at the shrine in the center of the catacombs, allowing them to gain Orobas as an ally again. The Shrine can be used as long as the players have the incense to spend. The match ends when there's only one team left standing.
In The Bornless, there are four Black Magick spells available. You must choose one at the start of the match, and activate it by pressing Q. The following is a list of the available magicks in-game right now:
Activating the Dae Shield creates a protective orb at your location that blocks incoming and outgoing damage. The shield also prevents OROBAS from entering, while still allowing players to enter and leave the barrier. The Dae Shield has one charge with a cooldown that recharges over time.
With Gehenna, you can toss a flaming molotov in the direction you are facing, causing a firestorm upon impact that damages anyone caught in its radius. Gehenna has two charges that independently recharge over time.
By using the Corvus Eye, a blinking wave will be created in your immediate area. This wave briefly identifies enemy players with a red outline and friendly players with a white outline. You can use this skill once per charge, and it has a cooldown of 50 seconds.
The Aecus Flare is a blinding flare that can be thrown in the direction you're facing. When it hits a location, it emits a spherical blinding field that disables the vision of any player in its vicinity. The effect lasts for a few seconds when you're out of the field of effect. You can use the Aecus Flare once per charge, and it recharges over time.
The Bornless offers a selection of core weapons that players can purchase during each match. In addition to the starting knife and 1911, the following weapons are available:
In The Bornless, players can use incense as a resource to purchase ammunition, weapons, and to summon OROBAS. At the start of each match, players are given a small amount of incense, and can collect more by finding it in chests or looting it from defeated enemies. The winning team's combined incense is split between the two players and added to their accounts.
There are two types of chests in the game: permanent and temporary. Although there are only a few permanent chests, they can be opened at any time during the match. Temporary chests, on the other hand, can only be accessed during the pre-round and when they appear next to the active beacon during the main rounds. Players can open the chests to reveal containers of incense that they can collect.
The current The Bornless map features five Shrines located at major landmarks, each indicated by a large red beacon in the sky. Each Shrine can only be interacted with once per match, except for the final Shrine located in the catacombs. During each round, the first team to reach a Shrine has the ability to summon OROBAS to fight on their behalf against an enemy team at a cost of 25 incense. When the Shrine is activated, a circular Control Zone appears around it, and other teams can gain control of OROBAS by remaining uncontested in the Control Zone for a set amount of time.
There is a weapon shop at each beacon location around the map, identifiable by a glowing red light over the stall. These shops are only accessible when there is an active beacon in the area. Here, players can exchange incense for weapons and ammunition.
In The Bornless duos, when one player is downed, they will take control of their Soul. The Soul allows the downed player to move around freely and provide their teammate with information, but it is visible to other players. Reviving a downed teammate is possible. If both teammates are downed, the team is eliminated. The radio announcer will declare that the team has been eliminated.
To revive a teammate, hold down the ‘E’ key while looking at their body. The player needs to hold ‘E’ until the teammate is fully revived. Other players can hear the sound of a revive being cast. Each player has a limited number of revives per match.
To round off our The Bornless guide, we go through a number of tips and tricks that can make you a better player from the get go. For example, having knowledge of important landmarks and item locations on the map can provide a significant advantage over your opponents. It is important to memorize these to gain the edge. Additionally, it can be crucial to regroup and recoup rather than engaging in near unwinnable fights. Skillful tactics can be employed to revive a dead friend. Lastly, Orobas can be staggered by a well placed headshot, allowing players to effectively fight against this powerful enemy.
We hope you enjoyed our The Bornless guide and we got you prepared to take on your scariest demons as well as your fearsome enemies to come out victorious.
