Overview

RavenQuest is a top-down pixel-based MMORPG that builds on the success of Ravendawn, a popular Web2 game with over 200,000 monthly players. What makes RavenQuest different is its full Web3 integration, allowing players to own in-game assets through NFTs while enjoying the game's constantly evolving world. While some Web3 games require upfront investment, RavenQuest is free to play, letting players dive in without any initial cost. The game has dedicated zones for those who prefer to avoid PvP, but for players who like competition, PvP offers better rewards and more earning potential.

Gameplay and Features

RavenQuest takes a different approach to traditional MMORPG gameplay by offering complete freedom in how players build and progress their characters. Instead of locking players into a specific class, RavenQuest introduces an Archetype system where players can combine three Archetypes at any time. There are eight Archetypes to choose from: Archery, Holy, Protection, Shadow, Spiritual, Warfare, Witchcraft, and Wizardry. Each Archetype offers 18 unique spells, and combining three creates up to 56 possible class combinations. This system allows players to adapt their character to suit their playstyle, whether they prefer to be a long-range damage dealer, a tank, or a spellcaster.

Character progression goes beyond simply leveling up through combat. While slaying monsters is certainly an option, nearly every activity in the game offers experience points. Whether you choose to be a farmer, fisherman, or blacksmith, you’ll find a path to progression that suits your playstyle. The game has three key progression systems: Legacy Level, which tracks your overall growth; Archetype Level, which allows you to unlock more abilities within your chosen archetypes; and Effective Level, which determines your ability to equip gear and unlock skills. The game also employs a unique attribute system that’s flexible, so any attribute can be relevant to any class combination, giving players more creative freedom in how they develop their characters.

Professions are a core part of RavenQuest’s economy, offering 10 options for players to choose from, including Blacksmithing, Carpentry, Weaving, Cooking, Breeding, Mining, Woodcutting, Farming, Husbandry, and Fishing. Each profession contributes to the player-driven economy, allowing players to gather materials, craft items, and help supply the game’s Tradepack system. Tradepacks are central to the economy, as they’re used to generate Silver, the in-game currency. Players gather resources, package them into Tradepacks, and deliver them to Tradeposts scattered around the world. The economy functions through a self-balancing system that simulates real-world supply and demand, with prices fluctuating based on player activity.

The game also features a robust PvP system with arenas, guild wars, and open-world combat, offering extra rewards for those who participate. However, if PvP isn't your focus, you can easily avoid it and still enjoy the game’s wealth of PvE content, crafting systems, and professions.

NFTs and Blockchain

RavenQuest integrates Web3 by giving players real ownership of in-game assets like Estates, mounts, ships, and RavenCards. Estates, which are a key part of the game’s economy, let players farm, gather resources, and build homes. Owning land directly impacts gameplay by allowing you to produce goods faster and create Tradepacks, which are vital for earning Silver. What’s more, landowners get a cut of 50% of all $QUEST generated in the game, making these Estates a valuable long-term asset. There are five different sizes of Estates, ranging from Small to Fort, each determining how much you can produce.

Mounts and ships also exist as NFTs in RavenQuest. Moas, the game’s signature mounts, help players travel faster and transport Tradepacks more efficiently. Through breeding, you can improve your Moas' stats, like speed and strength, to make them even more useful. Ships, on the other hand, are customizable tools for both combat and trade. You can upgrade and tweak your ship’s components to suit your needs, whether you're looking to dominate in battle or move goods across the ocean faster.

RavenCards are another crucial aspect of the game’s customization. These collectible NFT cards give players a way to boost their characters with unique abilities and stats. With 192 cards to collect, each tied to a specific Archetype, RavenCards provide tons of options for tweaking your build to suit your playstyle. The cards come in varying rarities, with higher-tier cards offering stronger buffs, making them highly desirable for both casual players and those looking to dominate in PvP. All of this ties back to the game's economy, which runs on Silver Coins and $QUEST, the premium currency. $QUEST can be earned through gameplay and traded for Silver, cosmetics, and other valuable in-game assets, creating a balanced ecosystem where player effort directly translates into rewards.
