Overview

Otherside is a world-building platform that offers an exciting environment for players to create, compete, connect, and explore together. This gamified, interoperable metaverse is currently under development, blending MMORPG mechanics with web3-enabled virtual worlds. It provides a unique blend of environment, sediment, and treasures, with each Otherdeed NFT representing a unique plot of land within the Otherside universe.

The World of Otherside

The Otherside universe is part galaxy and part archipelago, with islands extending from the Biogenic Swamp at the center and roiling outwards to the Infinite Expanse. There are five sediments that lands are built upon: Biogenic Swamp, Chemical Goo, Rainbow Atmos, Cosmic Dream, and Infinite Expanse. Each Otherdeed is the key to a unique blend of environment, sediment, and treasures — some with resources, some home to powerful artifacts. And on a very few, a Koda roams.

The Voyager's Journey

The Voyager's Journey is an 11-part storyline surrounding a mysterious Obelisk that has appeared in the Otherside universe. Voyagers are invited to team up, develop their own experiences on their slice of the Otherside, and discover and shape what can be harvested, crafted, traded, bought, and sold. Voyagers play a large role in shaping the core capabilities of the platform through exclusive events, playtesting opportunities, and as co-developers of the Otherside Development Kits (ODKs).

The Otherside Development Kit (ODK)

The Otherside Development Kit (ODK) refers to a suite of "Creation Tools" built with Improbable that will allow users to create interoperable content for Otherside. This includes people (accounts, friends lists, and identities), places (worlds with common game systems), and things (interoperable objects, avatars, wearables, items that can be taken between places). The ODK allows for the creation of objects within Otherside, following Open Object Standards for interoperability.

The Agora: Marketplace of Otherside

The Agora is Otherside’s planned marketplace for buying, sorting, finding, trading, and selling the huge variety of things that can be created, farmed, harvested, and more. It is designed to be the fastest, easiest, and most secure place to participate in and enjoy the benefits of Otherside’s economy. The Agora will be the hub for the natural resources of Otherside, the items crafted using the ODK, and the loot found across the Otherside.

The Future of Otherside

The future of Otherside is promising, with continual updates expected as it evolves from a litepaper to the first version of the Codex. The platform is just getting started, and the developers are excited to continue The Voyager’s Journey with the incredible community of Voyagers. The goal is to keep playing together, exploring new ways that Voyagers can help shape the story of Otherside, and inviting them to take part in more special Trips and events.

An Otherdeed is more than just a ticket to the Otherside game; it's a dynamic Non-Fungible Token (NFT) that evolves as you interact with the game. Each Otherdeed is a collection of elements, from resources to Kodas, and changes as you move these component pieces around.

How Can I Get an Otherdeed?

You can purchase Otherdeeds on the secondary market on Opensea. This gives you access to prototype builds, demos, and tests that shape the final game design and experience.

How Can I Contribute to Otherside?

As an Otherdeed holder, you're not just a player; you're a part of the game's development process. You can participate in demos, prototype builds, in-person events, and contests. Every interaction you have with Otherside helps it grow, and you don't need any special or technical knowledge to contribute.
