Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas wrapped up its annual Roadtrip campaign with a grand finale at Ayala Malls TriNoma in Quezon City on July 14th, 2024. This event marked the culmination of a months-long initiative aimed at introducing web3 gaming to communities across the Philippines. The Manila event attracted over 2,900 guests, bringing the total attendance for the Roadtrip’s six stops to nearly 7,000 people.

The event featured a variety of activities designed to engage and educate attendees about web3 gaming. Key highlights included game demos and show matches for titles like Guild of Guardians, Mojo Melee, Sipher Odyssey, and Arena of Faith.
Notably, a game demo for Parallel showcased the skills of YGG Esports team captain Ian “Disi” Dela Cruz and YGG Pilipinas community leader Munchies, generating excitement for the global Parallel Planetfall Invitational tournament. Following the event, YGG Esports star player Samuel Sequinox secured the grand prize from the tournament’s US$20,000 prize pool, cementing YGG’s reputation in the web3 gaming arena.

The Roadtrip also featured a cosplay competition with a PHP 100,000 prize pool, drawing nearly 100 participants. Veteran cosplayer Guy Singzon won the grand prize with his impressive Zhang Fei of Three Kingdoms cosplay. Additionally, local rock band Lola Amour provided a musical performance to conclude the day’s activities, captivating the audience with their music.
Prominent members of the YGG community, including community leaders Munchies and Stephy, engaged with guests through meet-and-greets and speaking sessions. They promoted Season 6 of the Guild Advancement Program (GAP), which encourages new players to explore web3 gaming and earn rewards from YGG. Axie Infinity legends spamandrice and Kookoo also interacted with community members, further enriching the event’s atmosphere.

YGG Pilipinas’ Roadtrip sponsors played a significant role in the event, providing sessions and giveaways. Jambo Technology distributed web3 gaming-ready JamboPhone units to lucky attendees, while Coins.ph, one of the Philippines’ largest crypto exchanges, gave away branded merchandise. Delabs hosted a show match for Rumble Racing Star, and BreederDAO showcased their upcoming projects, including the Playcore gaming platform and the Creatorverse roguelike.

For those unable to attend in person, YGG partnered with Edison, a quest platform in the metaverse, to provide a virtual experience. Hundreds of remote attendees explored Edison’s virtual event grounds, participated in activities, and watched a live stream of the main stage. This allowed for broader participation and engagement from the YGG community.
YGG Pilipinas Country Head Mench Dizon expressed gratitude for the support and engagement from the community throughout the Roadtrip. “It’s been such a privilege to help onboard thousands of Filipinos into web3 over the course of the Roadtrip. Engaging with our community has provided invaluable feedback that will help us build a much larger program. We’re looking forward to providing more economic opportunities to as many Filipinos as we can, and we hope to see you all again this November for the YGG Play Summit.”
YGG Pilipinas Nationwide Web3 Gaming Roadtrip Concludes
YGG Pilipinas has more activities planned for the rest of the year, with the YGG Play Summit scheduled for November 18-23, 2024. This event aims to onboard even more Filipinos into web3 gaming, continuing the momentum generated by the Roadtrip. Over the past four months, the Roadtrip visited Batangas, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, and Bacolod, supported by local government units, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and partners from both the Philippines and abroad.
