The free-to-play strategy game Wild Forest has introduced a new feature called Campfire that allows players to passively earn Gold, alongside launching a map design contest with NFT prizes. Both updates aim to enhance player engagement in the Ronin-powered game as it continues into its fourth season.

Wild Forest is a free-to-play, web3-enabled, real-time strategy game reminiscent of classics like Warcraft and Starcraft. Built on the Ronin blockchain, players start with a small base, expand their territory, gather resources, and build troops to defeat opponents. Developer Zillion Whales recently introduced a new feature called Forge, which allowed players to convert their old beta assets into a resource known as Essence.
This resource was then used to acquire new items in the game's Forge Shop, which became available shortly after the official game launch. Since its soft launch in November 2023, Wild Forest has been progressively expanding its features. The game released its first NFTs on the Ronin blockchain in February 2024.
Play Fair Rules Updates
The Campfire feature enables players to accumulate Gold over time without requiring an NFT. Gold is an essential in-game resource used for unit upgrades, and it must be collected manually from a storage system to prevent it from reaching capacity, which would halt further production.
While anyone can generate Gold, owning and staking Lord NFTs boosts production rates and increases storage capacity. However, the benefits are tied to active staking—if an NFT is sold or removed from staking, the Castle bonuses are lost.
Players must return regularly to claim their Gold to avoid filling up storage and halting further accumulation. Season 4 of Wild Forest, which recently began, features expanded leaderboard rewards and the addition of Recruitment Centers, offering another utility for staked Lord NFTs.
New Campfire Feature is Now Live
In addition to the Campfire feature, Wild Forest launched a map design contest, offering players a chance to win valuable NFT prizes. Participants can submit up to two entries by designing a 1v1 playable map featuring familiar game elements such as territories and emplacements. Designs can be hand-drawn or AI-generated.
To enter, players must post their designs on Twitter/X, tag Wild Forest’s official profile, and include the #LORDish hashtag. Entries must also be confirmed by replying to the contest announcement post and submitting the contest form linked in the same tweet. The submission deadline is October 20th at 4 PM UTC. The contest will feature team and community voting to select the top five entries, with winners receiving the following NFT rewards:
The Premium and Standard Packs contain random Unit NFTs and offer a chance to unlock a Lord NFT. These and other packs are available on the Mavis Market.
New Map CDesign Contest
For players interested in exploring creative opportunities beyond Wild Forest, the Faraway Creator Suite allows users to develop and trade assets usable across multiple games in the Faraway ecosystem. This platform encourages broader participation in the web3 gaming space, providing avenues for creators to earn rewards through in-game contributions.
With the new Campfire feature, Wild Forest enhances gameplay by introducing passive Gold generation and encouraging frequent logins. The map design contest further engages the community by inviting creative participation, offering exclusive NFT rewards for top entries. These updates reflect the game’s ongoing evolution and its commitment to fostering both strategy-based gameplay and community-driven content.
More updates are expected in the coming weeks as Wild Forest continues to roll out these features. For those eager to dive deeper into the world of Wild Forest, comprehensive information is available on their website, also you can follow them on Twitter, and join their Discord.
