Merit Circle DAO, a gaming DAO with over 60 partner games, recently launched Beam, an Avalanche Subnet tailored specifically to web3 gaming development and gameplay.
One of the latest additions to Beam is the immersive Massively Multiplayer Online RPG (MMORPG), Domi Online. The game transports players through captivating realms of medieval fantasy, where "boundaries of level and skill are non-existent".
With a goal of smooth onboarding, Domi is in the right hands building on the Beam network facilitating account abstraction as one of many features. In this article, we cover everything you need to know about Domi Online.
Enter Domi, a mysterious, harsh, unforgiving land. As a player, you will make your way through shade-filled forests and majestic mountain ranges, inhabited by mythical creatures. As adventurers, you’ll undertake quests, combat formidable foes, master valuable skills, and forge powerful alliances.
Your actions will not only shape your character’s destiny but also play a pivotal role in contributing to the dynamic and ever-evolving online community.
Their much-loved liege, King Latymer, is the ruler of Stannfyr, and the sole survivor of the notorious battle of Daalanar. This epic clash between the forces of Domi and the Gor’ath, a demon determined to destroy all of existence, did not go as envisioned. You see, the demon has not been defeated yet, meaning the heroes of Domi have to join forces to protect their land. This is the battle for the eternal soul of Domi, and you have a big part to play.
Successful games in the MMORPG genre typically accommodate hundreds of thousands of players daily embarking on quests and fights. Envisioning themselves among the ranks of legendary names like World of Warcraft, the team behind Domi is ambitious, to say the least.
One way of achieving these numbers is to ensure a smooth onboarding experience, which is why they chose to partner with Beam. The Domi team’s main objective is to offer players a near-gas-free experience.
Like any other non-blockchain game you’re playing, you won’t have to deal with fees for handling in-game transactions, nor wait for these transactions to settle and finalize. Building on Beam means a near-instant settlement and minimal gas fees, a combination that facilitates Domi’s vision of on-chain digital asset minting.
Whether it’s in the form of exclusive rare drops from devious bosses, seasonal rewards or in-game purchases, players will benefit from a wide range of assets. Thanks to Beam, all of this will unfold in a smooth and seamless manner.
To summarize, Domi wants to make sure that everything they have to offer is available in one place, and that’s what Beam is designed to facilitate. This comes down to the in-game collectables, the in-game storefront and all other web3 aspects.
Domi Online has previously been only in the Closed-Alpha stage. With a carefully selected group of players, the team conducted various tests to ensure that everything was working properly and early bugs were ironed out. This first version was limited in its scope and does not include the entire lore, or questline. The main focus was getting ready for the Open-Alpha stage.
The first quarter of 2024, Domi Online plans to release it's anticipated open alpha no-player-restriction release. This release included everything from the Closed-Alpha, excluding the errors and previously found bugs. This is also the version where player engagement is tested, and various in-game loops are actively undergoing experimentation.
Domi plans to launch their in-game storefront, which will allow users to obtain an exclusive hard in-game currency, to be utilized for in-game purchases. This was the first stage towards digital asset collectibles, Beam network integration, and an in-game storefront that allows seamless trading of digital collectibles, powered by the Sphere marketplace.
What else do you want to see from Domi Online? Are you excited to finally get back to those nostalgic MMORPG grind days but in web3 gaming?
