Ubisoft's web3 game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles is now live for a limited Technical Beta season, which runs from September 18th, 3 PM UTC, until September 23rd, 6 AM UTC. This beta offers players a chance to experience tactical, turn-based PvP gameplay in a dark fantasy world.

Champions Tactics Technical Beta

To participate in the Champions Tactics Technical Beta, players are required to own at least one Champion NFT, which acts as an in-game figurine used in battles. Currently, approximately 1,450 Champion NFTs are listed on the official marketplace, with prices starting at around 260 wrapped $OAS (~$9.70).

Players will need to connect their Ubisoft Connect account and link a compatible wallet using WalletConnect, Brave Wallet, MetaMask, or Ronin Wallet. Alternatively, those without an existing wallet can opt for a social login or email, which will automatically create an Oasys HOME Verse wallet through a system powered by Sequence.

It is important to note that the in-game stats of Champions differ from those listed on the marketplace. A balancing document is provided to give players the most up-to-date gameplay stats, which can be accessed via a link on the marketplace page.

Due to a launch issue, players must download the game using a link shared in the official Champions Tactics Discord server's announcement channel. This link allows players to log in with their Ubisoft Connect account and install the game on PC.

Tactical Turn-Based PvP Battles

In Champions Tactics, players compete in tactical turn-based PvP battles. Before each match, players draft a team of three Champions from their NFT collection in a phase that alternates with their opponent’s selections. This strategic drafting process helps determine how each player will counter the other’s team.

Once the battle begins, both players simultaneously select which skills their Champions will use before concluding their turns. The gameplay shares similarities with Axie Infinity Classic, as predicting the opponent’s moves and skill orders plays a crucial role in securing victory.

Players can track their progress through a score summary, accessible only during the beta season. Additionally, daily quests reset every day at 8 AM UTC, offering players new challenges to complete. A VIP system is also available, enabling participants to test out various in-game bonuses.
