TOKYO BEAST, Japan’s newest web3 mobile battler, recorded over 300,000 downloads and $1 million in revenue on launch day, coinciding with the start of a $1M championship tournament.

The global launch of TOKYO BEAST on June 9 marked a significant entry into the web3 gaming sector. Developed by TOKYO BEAST FZCO and backed by Japan-based Play3 Ltd., the mobile battler achieved over 300,000 downloads from the App Store within the first 24 hours. Alongside this milestone, the game generated more than $1 million in in-app purchase revenue on its first day, placing it among the most commercially successful launches for a blockchain-integrated mobile title to date.

$1 Million Championship Tournament

On June 21, TOKYO BEAST initiated its largest competitive event to date with the launch of a $1 million Championship Tournament. The top prize in this tournament is approximately $14,500, while second place is awarded around $5,200. Additional prize tiers scale down to $700, with all payouts made in TGT based on a reference value of $0.046 per token.

The event also added $34,500 in TGT to both the BASE and TRIALS prize pools through the HIT5 payout system. During the championship period, players received CHAMPIONSHIP CHIPs daily, which could be used to place predictions on matches and outcomes. The full tournament was streamed live on Twitch, featuring English-language commentary and live leaderboard updates.

Pre-Launch Campaign and Early Access

The developers carried out several campaigns leading up to launch. A closed beta was held in April for 200 participants, offering $20,000 in total rewards. In early June, an access campaign provided 3,000 players with the opportunity to compete for a combined prize pool of $160,000 through gameplay and social challenges. Participants in both the June 14 and June 21 tournaments are eligible to claim an additional $700 in unclaimed TGT rewards, as part of the game’s incentive structure.

In-Game Economy and Token Mechanics

TOKYO BEAST is built on Immutable’s zkEVM infrastructure and uses the TOKYO GAMES TOKEN (TGT) as its core in-game currency. TGT operates as a capped-supply utility token, integrated into all major functions of the game. Players use TGT for gacha pulls, stamina refills, event participation, NFT enhancements, and staking.

The token also underpins governance functions and reward distribution within the game’s ecosystem. According to the developers, 15 percent of the game’s June revenue will be used to buy back TGT via the web3 operations hub BASE. This strategy is intended to support token value while recycling player spending into staking, prediction systems, and tournament engagement.

Gameplay Structure, Setting, and Storyline

The game’s mechanics are split across two main modes: BASE and TRIALS. In BASE, players manage their collection of BEAST units, breed new characters, and stake assets to earn rewards. TRIALS focuses on real-time strategy battles, combining automated combat with limited manual controls. A spectator feature allows users to place bets on match outcomes using earned tokens or free prediction chips. This feature supports ongoing participation from players beyond direct gameplay.

Set in the year 2124, TOKYO BEAST takes place in a dystopian version of Tokyo where humanoid androids, originally built for industrial labor, have been repurposed for underground combat. Players either control teams of BEAST units in competitive XENO Karate tournaments or participate as spectators placing token-based bets. Weekly broadcasts of in-game tournaments provide an ongoing engagement loop that complements daily missions and events.

Infrastructure, Availability, and Access

TOKYO BEAST integrates Immutable’s Passport system, a non-custodial wallet solution that facilitates user onboarding and account abstraction. Robbie Ferguson, co-founder of Immutable, has identified Japan as one of the most promising markets for web3 gaming, citing strong IP loyalty and high average user spending. The partnership between Immutable and TOKYO BEAST includes infrastructure support, wallet tools, and in-game token management.

TOKYO BEAST is currently available for download on the App Store, Google Play, and Windows PC through its official website. Players can access the full game, participate in tournaments, and connect their Immutable Passport wallet to start earning and using TGT within the game’s ecosystem.
