The Space Nation team unveiled a 10-week airdrop event to coincide with the launch of the Closed Beta phase for Space Nation Online, the PC-based space MMORPG. The event is designed to actively engage players and enrich the gaming experience by providing exclusive rewards and incentives.
Space Nation Inc. is revolutionizing the space opera genre with its groundbreaking MMORPG, Space Nation Online, developed in collaboration with Immutable (IMX). Built on Immutable zkEVM and fueled by Polygon, the game offers vast futuristic worlds, compelling characters, and immersive narratives.
In this article, readers will discover details about the ongoing airdrop event, strategies for collecting valuable $OIK shards, and insights into the team's ambitious plans for expanding its extensive intellectual property (IP).
Space Nation has implemented Proof of Contribution (POC), a system designed to allocate $OIK incentives via gaming activities. This initiative holds significant importance as 50% of the $OIK distribution will be facilitated through POC over the game's operational lifespan.
The new feature underwent rigorous testing during the Closed Beta phase to evaluate its functionality and efficacy. As a result, 2.25 million $OIK rewards will be disbursed to participating players during the testing phase. In the next section of this article, we will explore how this mechanism operates and shed light on avenues to accumulate achievement points and unlock additional $OIK rewards.

The calculation of $OIK rewards within the Proof of Contribution (POC) system follows a set of rules:
NOTE: The formula for Personal Season Score was modified on April 18th.
Every hour, an estimate is generated of the potential $OIK rewards achievable based on the current Personal Season Score and All Players’ Score. It's crucial to understand that this estimation doesn't guarantee the exact $OIK rewards during the final settlement. These projections dynamically adjust in response to the fluctuating growth of both your Personal Season Score and those of other players.
The settlement of $OIK rewards occurs at the conclusion of each season, following specific equations. Settlement takes place between 18:00 and 24:00 UTC on the final day of the season. Once the settlement process begins, any new activities and achievements will cease to contribute to the Personal Season Score for that particular season.
Following the completion of the settlement process, you will receive an email notification detailing the number of $OIK rewards acquired during the season. Additionally, you can review the accumulated OIKs on your personal homepage within Logsitikos.
The distribution of OIK rewards for each season is as follows:

Each season presents opportunities to earn Active Challenge Points by accomplishing designated tasks, like destroying 100 pirate ships, attaining 35,000 CHR, or producing a spaceship part.
Accumulating these Active Challenge Points not only directly enhances the Personal Season Score but also augments the parameters of the achievement contribution calculation:

In the Closed Beta phase, the Target Challenge Points are set at 800, signifying that reaching 800 points of Active Challenge Points per season enables a 100% achievement contribution calculation. With every increase of Adventure Rank by 10 levels, both the projects and points of Active Challenge undergo augmentation. At the outset of each season, the Active Challenge is established according to the current Adventure Rank.
Achievements are categorized into two types: Completion-type Achievement and Holding-type Achievement.
Completion-type Achievements are awarded upon successfully meeting specific challenges within the game world. For instance, reaching adventure rank level 5 or accomplishing tasks like repeatedly occupying a planet (though not available in Closed Beta) are examples of Completion-type Achievements.
Holding-type Achievements are granted based on the Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) retained within the wallet. Upon transferring an NFT out of the wallet, the corresponding achievement associated with it will be revoked. Examples of NFTs that contribute to Holding-type Achievements include Alpha Gate, Prime Navigator, and Enforcer Founder Edition Spaceship.
Holding the Alpha Gate NFT provides a percentage boost to the total achievement points, known as the Achievement Booster. Please see the two images below for a more detailed breakdown!
The current activities and achievements in the Closed Beta phase serve as work-in-progress (WIP) versions, designed to introduce players to the concepts of activities, achievements, Contribution, and the Proof of Contribution (POC) function. Compared to the planned activities and achievements, the Closed Beta offers a simplified experience. The aim is to facilitate quick comprehension among players. The Soft Launch phase will unveil the complete picture of the system.
The MMORPG environment represents a vast virtual society, comprising both popular and less favored activities. Some tasks, while less in demand, hold significant importance for individual players. For instance, new players may struggle to complete low-level tasks without assistance from seasoned players exploring high-level areas.
The aim is to bolster these less popular activities by offering Active Challenge Points to incentivize player engagement. This approach facilitates a win-win-win scenario, where players in need receive assistance, those offering aid earn $OIK rewards, and the overall game society prospers. This emphasis on active points reflects a core philosophy and principle, forming a crucial aspect of the concept of Contribution.
During the 10-week event, players holding Alpha Gate and or Prime Navigator NFTs will receive daily distributions of $OIK shards. These shards can be accumulated throughout the event and later exchanged for $OIK tokens at a ratio of 10:1. The $OIK tokens serve as the primary currency within the Space Nation ecosystem, adding value to the gameplay experience.
The total prize pool for the event amounts to an impressive 10 million $OIK tokens, providing ample opportunities for players to earn rewards. Additionally, players can utilize Space Nation Online's membership platform, Logistikos, to access game missions, and activities, and track their progress and points throughout the event duration.
The event commenced with phase 1 on April 8th, focusing on the accumulation of OIK shards. Phase 2 of the event will introduce social events, with regular announcements to keep players engaged and excited about the upcoming activities.

The four founders recently celebrated the reveal of a broader IP strategy in which Space Nation Online, the MMORPG heart of the franchise, will be complemented by spin-off games, animated shorts, and a TV series.
Space Nation Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) driven by a sprawling space opera narrative and set in the fictional Telikos Cluster, a deep space frontier inhabited by a multispecies lineup of builders, fighters, and survivors. As starship captains, players embark on adventure-filled journeys in which they’ll face deadly pirates, navigate perilous environments, and uncover mysteries and riches.
Along the way, they’ll also find opportunities to acquire and upgrade their spacecraft, recruit new crew members, and colonize uncharted planets. They must also learn how to interact with rival factions as well as mine, produce, and trade resources, which are realized as NFTs.
Conflict takes many forms in Space Nation Online’s war-torn Telikos Cluster, with epic space battles that offer different kinds of gameplay, including player vs. environment (PvE), player vs. player (PvP), or guild vs. guild vs. environment (GvGvE) matches.

Space Nation Inc. has received substantial backing from its partners and venture capitalists, with an impressive $50 million already invested in the game’s development. Notable investors such as Foresight Ventures, Lighthouse Capital, SevenX Ventures, HashKey Capital, Arcane Group, Initiate Capital, JDAC Capital, Assembly Partners, and Cristian Manea have contributed to the project.
The Space Nation Inc. team also recently announced a collaboration between celebrated filmmaker Roland Emmerich, known for classics like Independence Day, and game creator Jerome Wu, to introduce the MMORPG, Space Nation Online, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2024 in San Francisco.
The team says: "We hope to provide participating testers with an extraordinary multiplayer space gaming experience through this test. At the same time, we aim to test the stability of the economic cycle under the complete game loop and identify and address any potential issues related to the gameplay experience and network stability."
With over three years of development, only exciting milestones lie ahead after a successful alpha test of the game in August 2023, followed by a full functional closed beta.
