Shrapnel, the PC first-person extraction shooter developed by Neon Machine, is set to launch its highly anticipated STX3 playtest. Spanning from May 23rd to May 26th, this 72-hour event marks the first time the playtest will run continuously.
In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about Shrapnel's STX3 playtest, new craftable weapon skins, and the innovative SHRAP staking system, Enlistment.

Shrapnel, the Avalanche-based PC extraction shooter, only recently unveiled its much-anticipated NFT marketplace with new weapon skins, made in partnership with prominent web3 partners and individuals. Now the team has launched STX3, their newest playtest.
One of the most awaited features in this new Shrapnel playtest is the ability to craft weapon skins. Players can now collect different fragments during gameplay and combine three unique fragments of the same rarity to create a custom skin. These fragments are tradable on the in-game marketplace, adding a new layer of engagement and personalization for players.
In a shift from the traditional leaderboard ranking, the 1 million SHRAP prize pool will now be distributed based on mission completions. Players will earn rewards for achieving specific in-game objectives such as reaching a certain number of kills, extracting fragments, and crafting items. This change aims to diversify the ways players can earn SHRAP and enhance their overall gaming experience.
Craftable Weapon Skins
Additionally, Neon Machine has announced a significant update to the way players can acquire SHRAP tokens. Players can now purchase SHRAP directly through the Shrapnel website using credit or debit cards, bypassing the need for third-party exchanges. This integration is expected to streamline the process of obtaining in-game currency, making it more accessible for players.
Another key feature debuting during the STX3 playtest is the Enlistment rewards system. Enlistment allows players to earn off-chain METAL points by locking SHRAP tokens to Shrapnel’s subnet. These points will offer future in-game utility, though the locked SHRAP can still be used to purchase and craft items within the game. Mark Long, CEO of Neon Machine, stated:
“The ability to craft unique skins and the introduction of Enlistment, our innovative SHRAP staking system, offer exciting new ways for players to personalize their experience and be rewarded for their investment in the Shrapnel ecosystem. We are committed to creating a truly immersive and engaging web3 world for our players, and STX3 is another step forward in achieving that vision.”
