Shardbound Reveals New Event with Exciting Prizes to Win

Shardbound has announced its second limited-time event, Ruins of the Weaver, which is set to run until August 6th at 11 AM PT. This event offers players the opportunity to engage in increasingly difficult stages for the chance to earn rare in-game rewards.

First, What is Shardbound?

Shardbound is a free-to-play turn-based tactics game that entered open beta on the Epic Games Store in late June. Despite being labeled a Limited Beta, players can gain access by pre-registering on the game’s official website. This process provides a link to add the beta version to their Epic Games Store library. The full open beta release is anticipated later this year.

In Shardbound, matches occur on a 3D hexagonal battlefield where players deploy cards to summon Minions and utilize Relics to defeat their opponent’s Commander. Decks must include at least one Commander and one Relic, with additional card types like Equipment and Spells available for strategic enhancement.

Victory can be achieved by destroying the opponent’s Commander or by accumulating 10 Victory Points through control of Victory Crystals. Currently, Shardbound does not feature web3 elements, but the game is designed to remain free-to-play and will eventually support mobile platforms. The developers have stated their commitment to a monetization system that avoids a pay-to-win model.

What is the Ruins of the Weaver Event?

The Ruins of the Weaver event differs from the recent Community Bot Battle event by featuring solo gameplay. Participants will face Commanders with newly updated decks and cards across five progressively tougher stages. Each stage presents a higher level of difficulty, and players who advance through these stages will be rewarded with valuable in-game items.

Important Stage Details

In the first stage, players will confront Professor Mori, who has all cards set at Level 1 and a Deck Power of 764. Successful completion of this stage will yield rewards including one Quillblade (Rare), 500 Elemental Shards, and 500 Upgrade Cores.

The second stage pits players against General Vardan, with all cards at Level 2 and a Deck Power of 914. Completing this stage will earn one Exhume (Rare), 1000 Elemental Shards, and 500 Upgrade Cores.

In Stage 3, players face Baroness Sabine, whose cards are at Level 4 and whose Deck Power is 1400. Rewards for this stage include two Devoted Curates (Rare), 2500 Elemental Shards, and 1500 Upgrade Cores.

Stage 4 introduces Director Petra, with cards at Level 6 and a Deck Power of 1846. Players who complete this stage will receive one Efficiency Expert (Epic), 1000 Radiant Shards, and 1500 Upgrade Cores.

The final stage, Stage 5, features Venerator Wynn, who has cards at Level 7 and a Deck Power of 2186. The rewards for overcoming this challenge include one Rank Breaker (Epic), 2500 Radiant Shards, and 2500 Cores.

At this time, it is not clear if these event rewards will be retained after the event or if there are plans to mint them into NFTs. However, the event is free to participate in, making it a compelling option for those who enjoy strategic gameplay.

Introducing the New Synergy Bundle

To aid players in completing the event, Shardbound has added a new Synergy Bundle to the in-game shop. This bundle includes four cards from a specific faction and a dual-colored relic. The addition of these items could offer a strategic edge for players working through the event’s stages.

Final Thoughts

The Ruins of the Weaver event presents Shardbound players with a structured challenge, offering the chance to advance through five stages with increasing difficulty for valuable in-game rewards. Participants have until August 6th at 11 AM PT to complete the event. The addition of the Synergy Bundle in the shop may help players as they navigate the stages.

As Shardbound evolves, its focus on maintaining a free-to-play model and plans for broader accessibility highlights the developers' commitment to delivering a comprehensive and engaging gaming experience. Players can use this event to explore the game’s strategic elements while preparing for the full open beta release expected later this year. More information is available here.
