Serum City is a novel blockchain-based city-building game developed by Novel Labs and Faraway. The game builds on the NFT assets from Yuga Labs' Mutant Ape Yacht Club and other collections. From July 8th to January 9th, players get to try out a revamped gameplay environment, encountering new characters and seizing opportunities to vie for substantial rewards.

Those who participated in Season 1 receive a head start through accumulated Season Points, with additional rewards tied to their progression through the new season's pass.

Gameplay Features and Enhancements

The cornerstone of Season 2 is the introduction of Energy as a vital resource, obtained through various activities such as fulfilling orders at Ape Railways and the Pirate Radio Station. Energy fuels gameplay across Serum City, enabling players to engage in new mechanics like the Washing Room, where they can gamble for diverse rewards using currencies like Cigs and Cartel Chips.

Introducing Turf Wars: New PvP Mode 

A standout feature of Season 2 is the debut of Turf Wars, a PvP mode set in the Clink, a prisoner-run penitentiary led by the enigmatic Franken Bombay. Players can use Cigs to launch strategic attacks on rival bases, employing hired security to defend their territory. Victories in Turf Wars yield trophy points known as Teeth, alongside valuable prizes including crafting ingredients and Doubloons.

Furthermore, Season 2 enhances the utility of HVs and Kodamara NFTs, allowing players to stake them for rewards at designated hubs within Serum City. The update also includes adjustments to the Capsule of Kaos recipes, ensuring a personalized crafting experience for every player.

Season 2 offers a prize pool totaling $100k in APE tokens, awarded to the top 99 players. The exact breakdown of rewards has not been disclosed, but the first-place winner will receive $25k, Car Parts, and a Fusing Augment. Second place earns $12.5k, and third place receives $7.5k worth of tokens.

Players advance on the leaderboard through various methods, including ranking in other leaderboards and increasing their Holdings Power Score. This score is influenced by HQ traits and Car collection. Unique HQ trait modifiers known as Blessings are earned through in-game achievements. NFT car parts were rewarded in the previous season's leaderboard for crafting and burning Gear.

Season Points: Action Points, Collection Burn, and Item Burn

Three event leaderboards contribute Season Points: Action Points, Collection Burn, and Item Burn. Action Points are gained through gameplay and tasks like constructing buildings. Collection Burn ranks players based on burning items from their inventory, while Item Burn focuses on burning Weapons, Armor, and Jewelry discovered through the Capsule of Kaos feature, used for minting Gear via item transmutation recipes.
