The anticipated monster-taming game Ragnarok: Monster World is gearing up for its global release on 1st October 2024. Developed by Singapore-based studio 0X&, the game is built on the Ronin blockchain, developed by Sky Mavis, and will be available for download through mobile app stores and APKs in certain regions. To build momentum ahead of its worldwide release, the game entered a soft launch phase on 26th September 2024.
During this period, players will have the opportunity to explore the game before the official global launch. The soft launch is also accompanied by the start of the game's first pre-season, which runs until 10th October. Following the pre-season, Ragnarok: Monster World will enter its first regular season, which will last until 17th November 2024.

Ragnarok, a billion-dollar transmedia IP developed by South Korean game publisher Gravity, has amassed 167 million downloads across 122 territories. As the first major web2 gaming IP to launch on the Ronin network, the strategic partnership sets a new precedent for the network and its game publishing business, following the success of Pixels’ migration to Ronin.
Ragnarok's journey began as a widely read Manwha comic book series, and its sequel online game has since become one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world. Ragnarok Online was one of the early virtual worlds of the social internet era, enabling players to connect beyond geographies and cultures through the game. The IP’s success has also extended to other media, including an animated series and mobile games, further expanding its reach and influence.
Ragnarok: Monster World operates on a seasonal model, with each season introducing new challenges and rewards. The pre-season offers players an early glimpse into the game’s mechanics, while the regular seasons will provide more structured gameplay and opportunities to earn rewards. A key feature of the game is its in-game economy, powered by the ZENY token.
However, the full functionality of the ZENY token, including the conversion of in-game characters known as Ragmons into on-chain assets and the breeding of new Ragmons, will only be available after the token’s official launch. Each season will allow players to convert a limited number of Ragmons into blockchain assets, with availability determined by market demand.
Some Ragmons will also be eligible for staking, with the specific Ragmons selected based on their levels and rotating from season to season. Staked Ragmons will provide a boost to players on the game’s leaderboard, offering higher rewards, but they will not be usable in regular gameplay while staked.
Pre-Season Soft Launch
Despite the blockchain integration, Ragnarok: Monster World aims to remain accessible to web2 players who prefer the free-to-play experience. The game’s leaderboard will be unified, meaning both NFT holders and non-NFT players will compete in the same space.
However, holders of NFTs, particularly those with Genesis Tamer NFTs, will receive special perks, such as multipliers for ZENY rewards. 0X& has emphasized that while many features have been outlined, they are not set in stone. The game’s development team is actively seeking feedback from the player base and the community to fine-tune the mechanics before the full-scale launch.
Creator Program 1.0
Until the full launch of the ZENY token, rewards earned by players will be distributed as E-ZENY, which can later be exchanged for ZENY. Notably, the leaderboard rewards will only be available during regular seasons, not in the pre-season phase.
As Ragnarok: Monster World approaches its global debut, it aims to balance web3 features with a traditional free-to-play model, ensuring accessibility for a broad audience while introducing innovative blockchain-based elements.
