Features Designed for Portable Xbox Gaming

Both handhelds feature Xbox Full Screen Mode, which runs on Windows 11 and mirrors the Xbox console interface. This interface is optimized to reduce background processes, ensuring that more resources are dedicated to gaming. A dedicated Xbox button provides access to an improved Game Bar overlay, allowing players to manage their library, chat with friends, and adjust settings without leaving gameplay.

The devices also offer an aggregated game library that brings together titles from Xbox, Game Pass (in supported regions), Battle.net, and other PC platforms. To support longer sessions, the hardware includes controller-inspired grips for better ergonomics. Each unit comes with a three-month Xbox Game Pass trial, giving new users immediate access to a large library of games across devices.

Multiple Ways to Play

Players have three primary options for accessing their games. Native play allows PC titles from any supported store to run directly on the device, with Xbox Play Anywhere titles carrying progress across platforms. Remote play enables users to stream their full console library from an Xbox system at home. Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) further extends portability, letting players stream their console library on the go and continue progress across devices.

At launch, thousands of titles will be included in Xbox’s new Handheld Compatibility Program. These games will be marked as either Handheld Optimized or Mostly Compatible, making it easier for players to identify titles ready for handheld play.

Accessories Supporting the Launch

The ROG Xbox Ally lineup is launching alongside several new accessories. Storage options include SanDisk microSD cards with up to 2TB capacity and Seagate FireCuda 530R SSDs available in multiple sizes, all designed for high-speed performance. A premium carrying case, co-branded with Xbox, features a water-resistant exterior, fleece lining, and a detachable pouch for chargers. Additional accessories are expected to arrive later in the year.
