Parallel Studios, the creators of the popular sci-fi Trading Card Game (TCG) Parallel, have revealed key details for its open beta this coming Thursday, 29th February. The Parallel team has also revealed an exciting new game trailer to entice gamers for the upcoming open release.Â
This latest announcement follows the conclusion of their closed beta season 7 and tournament. The tournament boasted an impressive $25,000 prize pool, hosted by renowned web3 content creators Alliestraza and Deathsie. The player lineup featured some of the most distinguished names in the TCG scene, such as TrumpSC, RduLIVE, DeraJN, and Thijs.Â
Under development since 2021, Parallel has generated significant attention within the web3 gaming community, establishing a strong and committed player base. While currently accessible on PC, the TCG aims to explore additional distribution platforms for broader accessibility, with rumors of it going mobile soon.
Set in a distant future, Parallel unfolds a dystopian narrative featuring five parallel civilizations vying for control of Earth, devastated by a catastrophe 10,000 years prior. Gameplay involves strategic deck-building, with players engaging in turn-based matches.
Back in October 2023, Parallel Studios introduced its largest card pack to date, titled "Planetfall." Regarding the upcoming open beta, the developers shared more details in a blog post, stating: "Moving into open beta, our focus is on attracting as many players as possible. We aim to leverage the Planetfall expansion as a tool for player retention, ensuring newcomers grasp the game mechanics before introducing a variety of new cards."
Kohji Nagata, Head of Game Design at Parallel, emphasized the unique aspects of Parallel within the web3 TCG landscape, commenting:Â "The art speaks for itself. I would put it up against any currently established TCG." Nagata highlighted the game's accessibility, noting, "It's a novel experience, comfortable and easy to learn for anyone familiar with TCGs. However, it introduces enough new and engaging mechanics to challenge even seasoned players."
Stay informed about Parallel's developments through its official website. As the open beta unfolds on February 29th, Parallel promises an immersive gaming experience that combines the familiarity of a tradition TCG with the innovation of web3, inviting both new and experienced players into its captivating universe.
