Our inaugural GAM3 Awards features over 30 members on its jury to help recognize the best "gam3s" in each of the 16 categories. The event takes place on December 15, and will be livestreamed across all our socials. It is time to get everyone familiar with each member of our jury. We got the opportunity to sit down with each of them to ask them a set questions to help you get to know them more personally, their favorite gaming moment growing up, what pushed them to make the jump into web3 gaming, and their outlook on the future of blockchain gaming.
The battle between networks to become the go-to choice for all web3 games will go on for a while till a clear emerges victorious. With the likes of Ultra, Immutable X, Polygon, and even gaming-specific chains like Myria, Solana finds itself amongst strong competition and they are holding up fairly well. We got the opportunity to sit down with Matt Sorg, Head of Technology at Solana Foundation, to go over his favorite gaming moment, his thoughts on the current state of web3 gaming, and where he sees Solana positioning itself within the gaming world in the future.
It’s hard to pick just one. I hit top 10 in the Supreme Commander ladder, world 2nd in the Aphelios raid in Rift, won Diamond Rumble (Riot’s internal LoL competition), got 2nd in a 600 person Run It Up poker tourney. I’m proud to dive deep in a diverse set of games and make great connections along the way.
I originally got into it in 2017 when I was working at Riot Games. At the time it was the pretty generic reason that it was hard for players around the world playing League of Legends to interact.
Games are the first movers for new tech. We get to try all the new toys.
How fast the space is evolving. Web3 gaming is innovating, leading the charge in how the blockchain industry is facilitating digital ownership.
There’s a lot of differentiation between dapp chains, market places and permissionless L1s. As a permissionless L1, we’re a facilitator role among an ecosystem of games, tools and platforms. We don’t compete with our ecosystem so there’s tons of economic opportunity and options.
When blockchain integrations are a first class citizen on mobile, or more specifically, Solana Mobile.
