In the dynamic landscape of gaming blockchains, June witnessed significant shifts in user engagement and network expansions. A pivotal standout during this period was Immutable, which experienced substantial growth in its user base and game offerings.

Immutable is a leader in web3 gaming "on a mission to bring digital ownership to every player by making it safe and easy to build great games with blockchain technology". The Immutable platform makes it easy for game studios and independent developers to safely and confidently build and launch successful games on the Ethereum blockchain.
The product suite includes pre-built solutions, optimized for usability, that help developers get to market faster without sacrificing security or player experience. Builders get personalized web3 guidance, live support for their communities, and access to the largest ecosystem in gaming.

Co-founded by James Ferguson, Robbie Ferguson, and Alex Connolly in 2018, Immutable is headquartered in Sydney with a 250+ team, and backed by top tech investors like Temasek, Tencent, Coinbase, BITKRAFT Ventures, King River Capital, Galaxy Interactive, and more.
Immutable was one of the first gaming platforms to deliver a zero-knowledge (zk) scaling solution to the Ethereum community and provides developers with multiple zk-based scaling options, including Immutable X, a rollup based on StarkWare technology, and Immutable zkEVM, powered by Polygon.

At the forefront of Immutable’s achievements was a notable 30% increase in total user wallets, surpassing 4 million by the end of June. This surge was propelled by the launch of new games such as Hunters On-Chain and Guild of Guardians, accompanied by engaging play-to-airdrop events. The momentum was further amplified by playtests and the anticipation surrounding forthcoming game releases, including Immutable’s own highly anticipated campaign, The Main Quest.

Notably, Immutable not only attracted new users but also significantly boosted its active user wallets, reaching over 300,000 by June 26th. This marked a substantial rise from the 180,000 active wallets recorded at the beginning of the month, underscoring the platform’s growing popularity and engagement levels.
In addition to user growth, Immutable solidified its position as a leader in game diversification within the blockchain ecosystem. With a total of 330 games under its banner, including 167 listed on the Big Blockchain Game List, Immutable stands out for its robust game portfolio. A notable achievement during Q2 2024 was the addition of 25 exclusive games deploying solely on Immutable, further enriching its gaming ecosystem.
Growing Gaming Ecosystem
Comparatively, other gaming blockchains like Ronin, despite hosting the largest active player base with over 20 million wallets primarily from Axie Infinity, reported a more modest growth in ecosystem games. Ronin currently supports 16 official ecosystem games, reflecting a different strategic focus compared to Immutable’s expansive approach.
Meanwhile, other players in the gaming blockchain arena, such as Wemix and Mythos, reported stable wallet activities with 1.2 million and 800,000 total wallets respectively. Mythical Games’ announcement of Mythos’ migration from Ethereum to Polkadot hints at potential ecosystem expansions in the near future, aiming to attract new users.

In the broader context, emerging platforms like L3 Xai and Sonic also made strides in wallet sign-ups. L3 Xai, operating on Arbitrum, achieved 1.5 million lifetime wallets, showcasing steady growth in its user base. Sonic, a Solana-based L2 rollup dedicated to gaming, celebrated reaching 300,000 wallets, highlighting its early traction in the competitive blockchain gaming sector.
Japanese gaming blockchain Oasys maintained a more niche presence with around 50,000 total user wallets, reflecting its targeted approach within the market. Analytics platform Helika recently released a comprehensive report on the state of web3 gaming. A notable highlight is the surge in weekly gaming transactions, which exceeded 200,000 across various blockchain networks throughout 2023 (see the image below).

As the gaming blockchain landscape continues to evolve, Immutable’s rapid expansion and strategic initiatives position it as a frontrunner in user acquisition and game development. With ongoing innovations and a diverse game catalog, Immutable is poised to sustain its growth trajectory and influence in the blockchain gaming industry.
