My Pet Hooligan began as an NFT collection in early 2021, and it quickly garnered attention for its cute, cuddly, and rebellious rabbits. But this project was more than just collectibles; it was about building a strong brand with global appeal. AGMI Studios, the creative force behind My Pet Hooligan, brought in top-tier animators from DreamWorks, Pixar, and Disney, infusing their project with high-quality animation reminiscent of beloved feature films.

The team's goal was to push the boundaries of web3 gaming by combining their animation expertise with real-time animation tools and blockchain technology. My Pet Hooligan wasn't just a collection of digital assets; it was the foundation for a larger gaming universe.

When we launched this in the early days, we wanted to bring that 3D highly animated Pixar element into the web3 space and back it up with all the real-time animation tools that the studio has built up to that point. The studio has been around for about four years, as we stand here today. So we had a bunch of real-time animation technology that we wanted to push into the My Pet Hooligan brand and into that IP, and then have that springboard us into the game that we wanted to create, which brings along with it technology, real-time animation, integrated AI chatbot technology, and blockchain technology.

Community-Driven Content Creation

One of the standout features of My Pet Hooligan is the community's involvement in content creation. From the early days, the team provided tools to the community to encourage user-generated content. Hooligan holders were given access to FBX files and 3D models, resulting in a wave of creative content from the community. This "build it and give it away" model has been instrumental in fostering a passionate and engaged user base.

But the team isn't stopping there. They have more tools in development to make content creation even more accessible. The goal is to see My Pet Hooligan content not just on Twitter but across various social platforms like TikTok and Instagram, making it accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience.

We wanted to learn from the community, see how they use our technology, and iterate on it to make it better. User-generated content was always part of our plan. It's about letting the community push the brand in different directions and have creative freedom. We want people to feel like they can help shape the direction of the brand, and there's a lot of beauty in that. We're just at the beginning of where all this can go. The game is a big step into the next phase of UGC and content creation within our community.

The Evolution of My Pet Hooligan's Lore

The lore of My Pet Hooligan is a work in progress, shaped not only by the creators but also by the community. The game currently features characters like the evil overlord Metazuckbot and his henchmen, the Zuckbots, alongside the Hooligans and their seven factions. While foundational lore exists, it's designed to evolve with the community's input.

My Pet Hooligan wants its community to feel like they're actively shaping the story and direction of the brand. The blend of creator-driven content and organic community growth is a testament to the web3 gaming ethos, where players are more than just consumers; they're active contributors.

The Current State of My Pet Hooligan: A Glimpse into Web3 Gaming

My Pet Hooligan has come a long way since its early days. What started as a proof of concept has evolved into a vibrant gaming experience. Players can now participate in various game modes, starting with Coinpocalypse, a coin-collecting frenzy where mayhem reigns supreme. Another exciting mode, Check 'Em, is a unique twist on checkers, offering a blend of strategic gameplay and chaotic action.

This whole game is about creating mayhem. Carl Schembri, our director. He said, you know, early, and I was like, when you're in here, I want this to feel chaotic and just like mayhem. So we're trying to create a game with gameplay around that. And that's one of the examples where it's just so much fun. It's intense. You can't keep track of what's going on. You know, you're, you're doing all the. So it's just a great time. Another one that we're working on which is a lot of fun. And I can't wait to play myself is called Check 'Em.

Securing Your WAX Wallet: A Primer

It's important to note that My Pet Hooligan is currently available on PC and requires players to set up a WAX wallet for in-game purchases and participation in the ecosystem. For those new to blockchain gaming, setting up a WAX wallet is a crucial step. To ensure the security of your wallet, enable two-factor authentication (2FA). This added layer of security requires a second factor (typically tied to your phone) to access your wallet, making it more resilient against potential threats. Additionally, safeguard your private keys—the keys to your wallet. Store them securely, preferably offline, and never share them with anyone. Private keys are your gateway to managing your tokens and should be treated with the utmost care.

You can't play it on consoles. We do have ambitions to take this to other platforms in the future. But right now, if you're gonna play this, you need a PC, and then you need to create a WAX wallet, which is a wallet that you're going to use to purchase in-game items and use to be able to get involved with the ecosystem in this early, this early stage. So, yeah, it's on PC only. But again, future plan is to try to get it out there to more people.

Web3 gaming is undoubtedly exciting, but are gamers ready to embrace it? The answer is mixed. While tech-savvy players are already enthusiastic about the potential, there's a need for education and outreach to ensure a broader audience understands and appreciates the value of blockchain technology and NFTs in gaming.

I think there are certainly gamers out there who are very tech-savvy and are already familiar with blockchain technology and NFTs, and they're excited about it. They see the potential. But at the same time, I think there's a large portion of the gaming community that might not be as familiar with these technologies or might have some skepticism or concerns about them. So I think part of the challenge is education and making sure that gamers understand what blockchain and NFTs are, what the potential benefits are, and also addressing any concerns or misconceptions that they might have.

As more games successfully integrate blockchain and NFTs, skepticism is likely to diminish. The key lies in delivering engaging gaming experiences that showcase the potential of these technologies while addressing concerns and misconceptions.

Many companies in the gaming industry are looking at how to integrate blockchain and NFTs into their existing games or even create new games that are sort of hybrids where you have elements of traditional gameplay mixed with blockchain technology. So it's a very exciting space and I think we're going to see more and more innovation happening in this space in the coming years.
