Gaming-focused Layer-2 decentralized network HYCHAIN has successfully generated more than $8 million in revenue via a node sale, an innovative product model that allows community members to support the chain while earning recurring rewards by proactively operating their software in return.
Following the success of its node sale, HYCHAIN’s first-party title HYTOPIA nicknamed the web3 “Minecraft killer” is now gearing up for a closed beta test coming this April. There are currently over 1.25 million pre-registrations and 2 million players from partner Minecraft servers eagerly anticipating the game’s launch.
Built by game developers for game developers, HYCHAIN empowers its community to actively contribute to the blockchain’s security and functionality while earning rewards from a pool of 250 million $TOPIA tokens in exchange for work performed with their nodes to help secure the network.
Note: This is in addition to 25% of transaction fees in perpetuity for securing the network. Within just 48 hours of the node sale announcement, HYCHAIN generated 2,098 ETH ($8 million at the time of the sale), with 254 ETH ($1 million) distributed among creators.
During the node sale, the HYCHAIN community applied creator codes at checkout to purchase node keys, granting them a 5% discount and rewarding creators with a 10% revenue share from each sale. Consequently, they earned substantial returns, with one receiving over $100,000. So far, 16,876 node keys have been minted by over 3,357 unique holders, amounting to 2,148 ETH.
“We are thrilled by the community's enthusiastic response to the HYCHAIN node sale and are equally excited for players to explore the HYCHAIN mainnet,” said ArkDev, a co-founder of HYCHAIN. “These milestones are a clear indication of the community's desire for a new permissionless L2 blockchain that enables seamless and frictionless publishing of Web3 games.”
Notably, digital collectible marketplace Magic Eden has also rolled out additional marketplace utility for the $TOPIA tokens, partnering with HYCHAIN to enable payment for any Ethereum NFT in $TOPIA alongside other leading digital currencies.
Following the node sale, HYCHAIN developers launched its mainnet on March 9, enabling users to transact, deploy contracts, create systems, and more. Simultaneously, other features went live as well, including the block explorer, the two-way bridge between Ethereum L1 and HYCHAIN, and the Polygon $WRLD-$TOPIA migration bridge.
HYCHAIN is an Ethereum L2 rollup and suite of web3 infrastructure that was created to eliminate onboarding and technical challenges for blockchain games aiming for widespread adoption. With years of experience in building leading brands and companies within the industry, the team behind it is dedicated to positioning HYCHAIN as the premier web3 gaming network.
The same team behind HYCHAIN also built MetaFab, a free end-to-end, chain-agnostic, self-serve solution for games and gamified apps. HYCHAIN has taken a number of the technologies and learnings from what game developers that used MetaFab needed from a blockchain & vertically integrated tech stack for seamless blockchain integration into games. These technologies have since been improved on with modern standards like account abstraction and more.
HYTOPIA (previously known as NFT Worlds), a spiritual successor to Minecraft, is a first-party title launching on HYCHAIN, which will also onboard more developers who want to offer players a frictionless experience in blockchain-enabled games. Currently in active development, HYTOPIA’s closed beta is scheduled to kick off in April, with more than 1.2 million players having already pre-registered to participate.
Despite Minecraft's user base exceeding 150 million, its restrictive monetization & creator ecosystem have left a gap for a new platform that emphasizes modding, performance, monetization, and creator tools. HYTOPIA aims to directly address the challenges faced by Minecraft creators, such as stringent EULA constraints and technical limitations that restrict monetization opportunities and creative freedom.
Instead, the platform may eventually offer drag-and-drop editors and real-time collaboration platforms, an accessible API, and a clear-cut creator earnings model that contrasts sharply with existing live service games.
HYTOPIA is also working on bringing significant new features and improvements, such as a high-performance Rust-based tech stack. This allows for better reliability and efficiency coupled with extensive personalization at every level, from gameplay mechanics to visual aesthetics.
For add-ons and integrations, the platform is attempting to focus on offering an ecosystem that is familiar to developers transitioning from Minecraft by taking inspiration from well-known developer APIs, enabling creators to dive in with a minimal learning curve.
Additionally, HYTOPIA is working on specialized migration tools designed for existing Minecraft servers, engineered explicitly to ease content transfer and enable further enhancements and expansions. With the HYCHAIN node sale still ongoing and open until all 50,000 node keys are minted, HYTOPIA continues to invite creators and network advocates to join and participate in the future of voxel block-builder gaming.
