Gunzilla Games has announced the next phase in the development of its blockchain ecosystem, GUNZ, with the invitation of 20,000 new users from its game Off The Grid (OTG) to migrate to the GUNZ mainnet. This expansion marks a step forward in integrating blockchain technology into mainstream gaming, offering players the opportunity to manage and trade their in-game assets through secure, decentralized means.

Off The Grid is a high-end, third-person battle royale shooter that offers players both a fast-paced multiplayer experience and a 60-hour single-player campaign. The game incorporates blockchain technology through swappable cybernetic limbs and customizable weapons, all tradable as NFTs. These in-game assets can be exchanged using the GUN token through a dedicated mobile wallet.
GUNZ is a Layer-1 blockchain platform designed specifically for community-driven economies in AAA gaming titles. It enables a new model of in-game ownership that contrasts with traditional free-to-play systems, where items purchased or acquired through gameplay are typically controlled entirely by the game publisher. With GUNZ, players have the ability to turn their in-game items into tradable NFTs, giving them control over digital assets and introducing a layer of permanence and autonomy.
Developed by Gunzilla Games, GUNZ is currently integrated into Off The Grid, a battle royale game, and Technocore, a mobile title. The platform introduces blockchain capabilities in a way that remains optional for players. Those who prefer to engage with the games in a conventional format can continue to do so without any obligation to participate in NFT trading or cryptocurrency-based activities.

The core functionality of GUNZ lies in its flexible design. Players can choose to convert in-game items—such as weapons, character skins, and hideout upgrades—into NFTs. These digital assets can then be listed on the GUNZ marketplace or traded elsewhere. Importantly, these NFTs are not sold by the game’s developers. Instead, they are generated through gameplay when players loot and extract items known as HEXes. This process ensures that ownership begins with the player and not with a commercial transaction initiated by the developer.
Despite the inclusion of blockchain elements, GUNZ does not require players to engage in trading or token usage. The NFT system is entirely optional, and Off The Grid remains fully playable without any blockchain interaction. This approach aims to make the technology accessible while avoiding the concerns associated with mandatory microtransactions or speculative models.

The platform’s native token, GUN, supports transactions within the GUNZ ecosystem. It is used to trade items on the marketplace and can also be earned through the completion of various in-game challenges. The use of GUN facilitates peer-to-peer exchanges of digital assets while maintaining a clear record of ownership on the blockchain. Gunzilla Games recommends users to join their Discord server and newsletter for updates.
Gunzilla Games acknowledges that, like any digital asset, NFTs carry certain risks. Ownership is recorded permanently on the blockchain and legally assigned to the player until a trade occurs. This structure helps ensure transparency and traceability, but users are encouraged to review the platform’s full risk policy for a better understanding of potential implications. By allowing players to opt into this system, GUNZ provides a degree of user control not typically found in traditional game economies.

Off The Grid is currently available in Early Access on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Meanwhile, Technocore is accessible on iOS and Android devices. As GUNZ continues to expand, the ongoing mainnet migration signals the company’s commitment to building a scalable and optional blockchain infrastructure within gaming. The introduction of 20,000 new OTG users to the mainnet is part of a broader effort to grow a sustainable, player-driven economy that functions within—but does not disrupt—the familiar gaming experience. GUNZ represents an effort to incorporate web3 technology in a way that prioritizes player choice and digital ownership while maintaining accessibility for all types of users.
