GUN Token Launching on Solana

Gunzilla is launching its GUN token on Solana this week, unlocking new access for Off The Grid players and pushing forward its cross-chain web3 gaming vision.

Gunzilla Games is pushing its web3 ambitions forward with a major expansion of its in-game currency. Starting Thursday, July 10, the GUN token - originally launched on Avalanche - goes live on the Solana blockchain. The move is designed to bring more players and traders into the Off The Grid ecosystem and signals a broader push toward a multi-chain future.

Solana Launch Means More Access, Less Friction

By bringing the GUN token to Solana, Gunzilla is aiming to lower the barriers for new players and investors who may have found Avalanche’s onboarding process too steep. With Solana’s fast transactions and low fees, the expansion offers a smoother path into the game’s blockchain-powered marketplace. To celebrate the launch, Gunzilla is dropping a new set of Solana-themed NFT skins in Off The Grid, giving players some fresh gear that ties into the new network.

This isn't just about cosmetics, though. The move is part of what Gunzilla calls its “multi-chain ethos,” a strategy to make its GUNZ blockchain and all connected games accessible across multiple platforms and wallets. Theodore Agranat, Director of web3 at Gunzilla, emphasized the bigger picture: “This is in line with our goal to make the GUNZ marketplace and its items, as well as any games within the GUNZ ecosystem, accessible to anyone - on any chain.”

A Token Under Pressure - But With Potential

Despite strong in-game engagement, the GUN token has taken a hit in the markets. It’s down 69% from its all-time high since launching in March and currently sits at #73 among gaming tokens by market cap. Still, players remain active, and interest in in-game skins like the Tacoma Pioneer has stayed strong. According to recent data, the GUNZ marketplace has seen more than $600,000 in volume over the last 30 days.

Longtime Off The Grid skin collector Money Magician believes the Solana launch could be the reset GUN needs. “I think the principal effect this move will have is accessibility to newer investors and lowering the barrier for entry,” they said. “Perhaps not an instant effect, but it shall be a positive driver.”

Mainnet Migration Is Picking Up Steam

Behind the scenes, Gunzilla is also making progress with its GUNZ mainnet migration. Over 20,000 users have already started the shift from testnet, and the platform now supports full ownership of NFTs, tokens, and in-game assets. With over 17.3 million wallets registered and nearly $13 million in marketplace trades last month, the foundation is being laid for a more active ecosystem.

The GUNZ network is also running validator nodes that mint in-game assets. Most of the 10,000 nodes are already live, although activity is still ramping up. Once the migration is complete and VASP licensing is approved, Gunzilla plans to open the gates even further.

Roadmap, Steam Plans, and Marketplace Growth

Gunzilla isn’t slowing down. The studio recently unveiled a new GUNZ roadmap with a focus on major expansion in late 2025 and beyond. This month kicked off a series of “Hexes” reveals - puzzle-like teases that will announce future partnerships and updates. The first one dropped on July 7, with more expected soon.

A Steam testnet release for Off The Grid is also in the works, joining the existing platforms on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Gunzilla says the Steam version will follow Valve’s guidelines on blockchain content by keeping the experience limited to testnet.

Meanwhile, early trading for in-game assets is coming soon via OpenSea. OTG Pro subscribers will get access first, with a wider rollout planned later. This update is expected to open the door to real-world value exchange within the skins economy - something Gunzilla believes could be a turning point for web3 adoption.

New Tools, New Weapons, New Ways to Play

Community tools are also expanding. Gunzilla recently launched DEGENRADAR, which provides real-time insights into marketplace trends, and OTG Meta, which tracks player stats like loadouts and weapon usage.

On the gameplay side, Off The Grid added a 20-player free-for-all mode with four new arenas - Marshlands, Midtown Harbour, Stork City, and Ocio. Players can now equip a new weapon called the Cyberlancer, which features a dash attack and a bleed effect for added strategy.

Weapon balancing updates have also gone live. The Kestrel sniper rifle now deals more damage and fires faster, while the AZV100 has been adjusted to lower its damage output but increase burst fire speed. Players can now toggle between first- and third-person views while aiming, and gyro aiming has been introduced for Windows PC and PS5.

The Bigger Picture: Blockchain Meets AAA

Off The Grid is led by director Neill Blomkamp, whose influence is clear in the game’s tech-forward mechanics - especially the interchangeable limb system that affects movement and combat. These gameplay elements double as digital assets, connecting directly to the GUNZ blockchain and its in-game economy.

Gunzilla’s broader ecosystem now includes the $GUN token, the GUNZ L1 blockchain, an NFT marketplace, the GUNZ wallet and explorer, validator node NFTs, the TECHNOCORE mobile game, and the OTG Companion App. The goal is to let players own, trade, and control their digital items with the same freedom they expect in real life.

Gunzilla CEO Vlad Korolev summed it up: “What was once an ambitious belief - that true asset ownership enabled by blockchain would radically increase player engagement - is now a working reality.”

Looking Ahead

In addition to the Solana expansion, Gunzilla recently announced a partnership with decentralized exchange Blackhole. New liquidity pools are coming to Avalanche, although no date has been confirmed. The goal is to increase trading flexibility and bring more stability to the GUN token across chains.

With GUN going live on Solana, a wider Steam release on the way, and new gameplay and trading features rolling out, Gunzilla is continuing to bridge the gap between web2 gaming quality and web3 asset ownership. The next few months could be key in determining how well this multi-chain vision plays out in the competitive world of blockchain gaming.
