Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 has seen its release pushed back to 2026, much to the disappointment of fans who have been waiting years for the next installment. Alongside the delay, recent observations from the game’s second trailer has sparked discussions in the community, as one of the characters appears to have undergone a noticeable redesign.
The character, who remains unnamed, was featured in both the original and newest GTA 6 trailers. While his outfit largely stayed consistent, key differences were spotted — including changes to his hair, facial hair, and accessories like sunglasses and a backwards cap. The redesign has prompted fans and content creators, such as those running the GTAVI_Countdown channel, to speculate on the reasons behind this update.
GTA 6 Trailer 2 Breakdown
Grand Theft Auto 6 is the upcoming game in Rockstar Games’ legendary open-world crime series. It takes players back to Vice City, a neon-lit, Miami-inspired metropolis—but this time, the map stretches across the entire state of Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida.
The game will follow two lead characters, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, partners in both crime and romance. Lucia, a tough, family-driven woman with a criminal past, and Jason, a former Army enlistee now working for local drug runners, dive headfirst into Leonida’s sprawling underworld.
GTA 6 is confirmed to be launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to an official press release from Take-Two Interactive, the game will not be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, making it exclusive to current-generation consoles. As for a PC release, there has been no official confirmation.
Some reports have suggested that GTA 6 could follow the pattern of previous Rockstar games, where a PC version is released sometime after the console launch. Some former Rockstar developers have suggested that the PC version may take a significant amount of time to develop, with PlayStation 5 being the primary focus due to market demand.
Grand Theft Auto 6 was first revealed in December 2023 through an official trailer. The video introduced the game’s setting in Vice City and confirmed the inclusion of dual protagonists. While the trailer generated significant interest, Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have released limited information since then. The trailer followed earlier leaks in 2022, when portions of the game were exposed in an unauthorized online breach.
In a message posted online, Rockstar recently expressed its regret over the delay, acknowledging that fans had anticipated a 2025 release. The studio stated that it needed additional development time to meet its standards and deliver a product that aligns with audience expectations. The company also thanked players for their continued patience and support, reiterating its intention to share more details about the game in the near future.
GTA 6 Trailer 2 Breakdown
One popular theory points to a TikTok video where a user named zoeepoppyy claimed that the NPC was based on his likeness. In his video, he showed a strong resemblance between himself and the character and even suggested Rockstar should compensate him. This led to speculation that Rockstar may have adjusted the character's look to avoid potential legal issues regarding likeness rights.
Rockstar is no stranger to such controversies. In the past, the studio has faced lawsuits and claims over characters allegedly based on real people. Notably, actress Lindsay Lohan filed a suit over a character in GTA 5, although she ultimately lost the case. The studio has also created parodies of real-world figures before, which adds to the uncertainty about whether this latest redesign is connected to any legal concerns.
While Rockstar has not publicly addressed the character change or the related speculation, fans continue to analyze every detail released ahead of GTA 6’s eventual launch. The delay to 2026 means there is still time for further refinements, but the evolving details around the game’s characters are already drawing significant attention. As the wait continues, the community remains eager for more official updates on the game and its storyline.
