Pixion Games reveals new web3 features for Fableborne Season 4, including POWER Chests, POWER Bounties, new characters, and Ability Tomes, aiming to deepen gameplay and player engagement.
Pixion Games has announced a range of updates for Season 4 of its mobile action RPG and strategy game, Fableborne. As part of its renewed Dev Diary series, the studio plans to release bi-weekly updates to provide the web3 gaming community with insights into recent progress, current development efforts, and future plans for the game. The first entry in the new Dev Diary cycle summarizes the features planned for the upcoming season while also hinting at future developments beyond Season 4.
Fableborne Season 4 Introduces New Features
Fableborne, built by Pixion Games, features a unique combination of hack-and-slash RPG mechanics with base-building and raid elements. The game allows players to engage in both player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) battles, creating an immersive experience that blends competitive and strategic elements. The game underwent a cosmetic rebranding in May 2024, introducing visual updates that further refined its identity as an esports-influenced, mobile-first RPG.
Among the new gameplay elements confirmed for Season 4 are Ability Tomes and new playable characters. Ability Tomes will allow players to modify their heroes’ abilities, enabling greater flexibility and strategy during raids. These tomes provide an opportunity to switch predefined skills, opening up new tactical options. Initial Ability Tomes expected to be introduced include Arcane Ball, Rumble, Focus Area, and Self-heal. The development team has also mentioned additional tomes—Hammer of Justice, Crossbow Turret, and Curse—that are still in progress, though it remains unclear whether these will be released during Season 4 or in later updates.
In terms of new characters, Pixion Games has revealed two additions. The Sorceress, featured in a recent preview playtest, is an elite unit designed to bolster defenses through the use of dark magic. Another new character, the Transformer, was introduced near the end of May. This vanguard unit can perform mid-range attacks, teleport when in close proximity to enemies, and possesses healing and transformation abilities that enhance strategic options during battles. These new units are intended to increase variety and tactical depth in gameplay.
Fableborne Season 4 Introduces New Features
A major highlight of the upcoming season is the introduction of two new web3-specific features: POWER Chests and POWER Bounties. These mechanics are intended to create a stronger link between the free-to-play experience and the broader $POWER ecosystem. According to the development update, POWER Chests will function as lootboxes that offer players the chance to obtain exclusive items. One of the potential rewards includes the Legendary Kingdom NFT, which Pixion Games recently purchased on OpenSea for 7140 Ronin RON.
In addition, POWER Bounties will provide players with evolving challenges during raids. Described as a “living challenge layer,” these bounties are designed to introduce an element of unpredictability and progression. As players complete these challenges, they contribute to filling up the War Rune, which can then be cracked open to receive various in-game rewards. While full details about how these systems will operate are still forthcoming, both features mark a clear step in expanding Fableborne’s use of blockchain-based rewards and progression systems.
Fableborne Season 4 Introduces New Features
While the current focus is on Season 4, the Dev Diary also includes a brief mention of what players might expect in Season 5. A new hero, currently referred to as Flame Fist, is being developed. The only details shared so far describe her as an agile melee fighter who uses martial arts to deliver combination attacks. More information on this character is expected in future updates.
Further into the development timeline, Pixion Games plans to expand the core gameplay loop by allowing players more control over their kingdom’s defenses. One of the future features being considered is the ability to reposition rooms within the player’s base, which would add new strategic layers to defensive gameplay. There are also ongoing efforts to improve character customization, including the ability to equip characters multiple times or modify their appearance, with design work for this feature reportedly already in progress.
Fableborne Season 4 Introduces New Features
Pixion Games is using the Dev Diary format to maintain regular communication with the Fableborne player base, offering insights into current features and long-term vision. These updates come following an earlier announcement that the studio raised $12.4 million to support the launch of the $POWER token and other ongoing development goals.
With the combination of traditional gameplay elements and web3 integration, Fableborne continues to position itself as a hybrid experience aimed at both blockchain enthusiasts and strategy game fans. At the time of writing, the official release date for Season 4 has not been announced. More details are expected in the next entries of the Dev Diary series.
