Dogami Seeks Buyer Following Financial Setback

French blockchain gaming project Dogami has announced it is in confidential discussions with several parties, both inside and outside the web3 sector, in an effort to secure its future. The announcement follows the rejection of what the company described as a seven-figure research and development (R&D) tax credit claim by French authorities. The rejection was reportedly based on the project’s integration of blockchain technology, which disqualified it from the credit under current guidelines.

Dogami has lodged an appeal against the decision; however, the legal process is expected to take until 2026 to reach a conclusion. The company stated that it cannot sustain operations that long without financial support, prompting the need for an immediate strategic response to avoid closure.

About Dogami

Dogami originally launched on the Tezos blockchain and later expanded to the Polygon network. The project features a digital pet universe with three mobile games, a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) representing 25 dog breeds, and a native utility token known as DOGA. The ecosystem has been positioned as a web3 gaming platform combining entertainment with blockchain-based ownership and participation.

Komodor Studios has indicated it is open to full acquisition offers or strategic partnerships that involve the transfer of its assets, including game code, branding materials, and the operational structure managed by Dogami Sàrl. Interested parties can submit proposals through the company’s designated platform.

Komodor Studios Court-Supervised Restructuring

In response to the financial shortfall, Komodor Studios—the French company responsible for the development and branding of the Dogami game—has entered a court-supervised receivership. The goal of this restructuring process is to identify a buyer for Dogami's intellectual property and digital assets. Komodor Studios is currently evaluating proposals from various types of organizations, including game studios, intellectual property aggregators, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), web3-native platforms, and traditional web2 media companies.

Dogami Sàrl Operations to Continue Temporarily

Despite the restructuring, Dogami Sàrl—the Swiss entity that operates the staking functions, NFT marketplace, and other community-based services associated with the project—will continue to operate. The company has confirmed that these services are expected to remain active at least through the end of July 2025. This ensures that users and community members can continue to engage with the project while longer-term solutions are explored.

Industry Context and Outlook

Dogami's situation highlights broader challenges faced by blockchain-based game developers, particularly in regions where regulatory and financial frameworks have not yet adapted to web3 technologies. The company’s effort to find a buyer reflects a growing trend among blockchain gaming startups that are reassessing operational models in light of uncertain funding and shifting regulatory landscapes.

While the final outcome remains uncertain, the continuation of Dogami’s community services and the search for new strategic partners suggest a focus on preserving the project’s core elements. Further updates are expected as negotiations progress.
