Bandai Namco has officially revealed Digimon Story: Time Stranger, the latest entry in the beloved monster-taming RPG series. Developed by Media.Vision, the game is set to launch on October 3, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This new title blends turn-based combat, deep Digimon bonding systems, and a dramatic time-travel storyline across multiple worlds.
In Time Stranger, players take on the role of an agent from a secret organization named ADAMAS. After a mysterious explosion in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, the protagonist wakes up eight years in the past. What follows is a reality-bending mission to uncover the root of a global catastrophe and restore balance between two worlds, the human world and the mysterious Digital World known as Iliad.
The game features over 450 Digimon to train, evolve, and bring into battle. As a traditional turn-based RPG with rich customization mechanics, players will form bonds with their partners, explore a wide range of environments, and tackle story quests, side missions, and secret dungeons across both realms. Every decision, encounter, and bond plays a role in shaping the story’s outcome.
The reveal trailer gave players a glimpse into the game’s dynamic combat system, emotional story beats, and detailed environments. The visuals showcased scenes of conflict between dimensions, time distortions, and iconic Digimon in battle. The trailer also hinted at the game’s central themes, connection, identity, and the weight of destin, while giving fans their first look at the dual-world structure and cast of characters.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most ambitious entries yet. With its blend of time-travel storytelling, classic turn-based mechanics, and an impressive lineup of over 450 Digimon, it offers both nostalgic appeal and fresh depth. Whether you're a longtime Digimon fan or an RPG lover looking for a rich new world to dive into, this PlayStation 5 release, also coming to Xbox Series and PC — is definitely one to watch this October.
