Aether Games has announced the Early Access launch of Cards of Eternity: The Wheel of Time, a digital trading card game (TCG) inspired by Robert Jordan's bestselling fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. The game, which invites players to collect, craft, and battle with over 200 intricately designed cards, debuts on December 3rd.

Cards of Eternity: The Wheel of Time (CoE Wot) sets itself apart by faithfully recreating the expansive lore of Jordan’s novels. It allows players to align with iconic heroes or infamous upcoming factions like the Forsaken and Shadowspawn. Beyond its competitive gameplay, the TCG integrates single-player and multiplayer co-op modes, offering newcomers and seasoned players multiple ways to engage.

The game’s narrative depth is further supported by unique 3D-modeled assets and animated card art, bringing the world of The Wheel of Time to life. While Aether Games initially considered blending multiple intellectual properties, they pivoted to focus exclusively on The Wheel of Time, ensuring the game authentically reflects the beloved series. The team emphasizes that Cards of Eternity is not a reskin of any existing game, but a fully original TCG crafted specifically for this franchise.

The game also clarifies its limited use of AI, which serves only as a supportive tool for background art inspiration. Primary assets, including all 3D in-game elements and character designs, are developed using traditional techniques. This ensures alignment with the source material and maintains high artistic standards.

Blockchain-Free Gameplay

Cards of Eternity will launch on Steam without blockchain, NFT, or cryptocurrency integration, in compliance with platform policies. However, players can convert certain assets into tradable items outside the game through Aether Games’ website. This optional feature exists entirely separate from the core gameplay and does not affect the in-game experience.

The Early Access phase allows players to explore the game in a polished state while providing feedback to refine future updates. Aether Games plans to roll out additional features and host one or two pre-seasons during this phase. The full release is expected within 11 months, though timelines may accelerate based on progress.
